i agree, I think the WD is going to have perhaps the best chance of being a great solo class or group supporting class. They have so much CC and pets to go along with many dmg spells that I think WDs were make a terriffic solo class. Barbs will be fun too, but in all honesty they are totally different playstyles, so you should follow whichever style you want to play. Like someone mentioned above, Blizz will make sure each class is balanced for pvm, so play whichever style you like best. Personally, I am going WD because I have always loved those Necro, warlock style classes with pets, spells, etc.
WD is probably the most survivable class in the higher difficulties. Very high mobility; along with several off-tanks to keep enemies off him.
I'm making a Barb first, and each time I move up difficulty, I'm putting as many stuns as I can on opponents. Then dropping them off one at a time as things get easier. And using the passives to increase armor, then dropping those off one at a time if it's not too much damage.
Wizard, though, is pretty sweet too. Diamond Skin and Frost nova, with ice ray (first rune) is a nice melee nuker.
Definitely the best team PVE imo. On the other hand, if i was to play a lot of solo PVE, i would probably roll a DH or a Wiz (but it is probably only a personal choice based on enjoyability). For PVP tho, i wouldn't count too much on him for 2v2. In 3v3 or 4v4 on the other hand, his CC will become very useful.

I've narrowed my choices to the Barbarian and the Witch Doctor.
Regarding the WD, what do you think about the character's viability in the later Acts of Hell and throughout Inferno difficulty.
Can you WD solo content in Inferno ?
Do they have enough mechanics to deal with difficult boss, elite and champion packs ?
Will the zombie dogs + Templar combo be able to tank somewhat effectively in Inferno ?
Will the WD be able to pump out enough DPS to overcome some of the really tough fights ?
Your thoughts are always appreciated !
