If you watch the Witch Doctor skills demo (and if i am think of the right skill) it kinda resembles nova and the souls of the dead suck into the Doc. Maybe it returns health?
Keep in mind that he was probably very high level for that area to demonstrate the "coolness" of the spell. Don't expect it to be a 1 hit kill the first time you use it.
I liked a lot the WD between the classes which were presented I'd choose him.
About his mask...think about the barbarian helmet in D2 it had a lot of different styles and the druid mask too, not every mask would be purple or like the one we saw
And a army of exploding pets, now that's cool..."get'em fluffy...BOOM"
Bwahahahha:D
if they dont reintroduce the necromancer, i will probably play the witch docter, with a heavy emphasis on fire skills.
to be honest though, i think it would be better if instead of tuganzi, the witch docter came from kurast... i know we never saw a witch docter down there, but i loved kurast and it would be a nice little shout-out to diablo 2.
The witch doctor looks to be a really awesome class, and as mentioned before seems to be the new 'necromancer', as i really loved my necro in D2, the witch doctor looks like it's going to be a fun class to play, the mixture of fire, fear, and nature spells are going to make for awesome class to play.

“There’s no going back now,” he said during an interview in a Manhattan hotel where Blizzard was showcasing their newest games. “We’re very happy with how the art style is. The art team’s happy. The company’s happy. We really like this art style, and we’re not changing it.” - Blizzard.
someone said that the witchdoctors has this creepy shaking/trembling thing that creeps em out, well i have an explanation. its a disease called kuru. causes shaking when eating the flesh, mainly the brain, of deceased bodies. aka cannibalism
adds to the wd profile quite nicely.

Remember the String of Ears
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
so its like a witch doctor in a way, the episode is called fresh bones. and before this i thought "how can a witch doctor be a good guy blablabla" however in it this good guy said "he who does evil, evil he will see" and then he took out the bad guy with some dust which he blew at him... idk again i know this is just a show but it really shows how they can play the character to be a good guy. And after watching this episode it really opened me up to the idea of a witch doctor, and to be honest the more i think about it, the more i think the necromancer was out of place in the diablo universe. the necromancer really should have been a boss or something...
anyways this has sort of got me excited to play the witch doctor, i cant wait to see some of his other spells.
and upon further research i came across this link which states that the term witch doctor started in England to describe medicine to get rid of evil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch_doctor
Yeah, thats very true. What surprises me the most is that you weren't already aware of this, lol. But I'm glad you are now, because I love the witch doctor, and it pains me to hear people talking ill of him.
Except, a necromancer still fits in perfectly. You know, with the whole neutrality thing that the Sin War trilogy talks about.
yes taking that into consideration the necro does fit perfectly, however i no longer count the books as part of the Diablo story. its all simply rubbish to me
Okay so I got to thinking last night about locust swarm. The first time he uses it the narrorator says something to the effect of "leaving nothing behind but bone" and then they zoom in on some skeletal figures.
So I'm thinking; locust swarm shouldn't work on skeleton mobs.
it's seemed exactly like a necro both to me and all of my d2 friends since we first heard the skills. It really seems pretty obvious, but i suppose different walks of life develop different ways people look at things. At least it's safe to say that except for the liquid incendiary device, all of the skills are necro, either an exact dupe or a modified version.
all i see WD as is another class that tried to incoroporate Necromancer but try to appeal to those former d2 players but change it up at the same time.

Anyway I like the Witch Doctor.
Has anyone done this yet? Anyway, the removal of the witch-doctor's mask kinda defeats the purpose of his character design.
Total control of the battle!

its a great read

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
