It is just me or it seems that the Witch Doctor is way more powerful than the Barbarian?
Can't really compare anything at this point. The cinematic was probably done with high level characters in low level areas. Ofc the witch doctors area spells rock'n roll against low level monsters.
I like the WD, plain and simple. Wall 'o' Zombies is so frickin cool. I just hope, HOPE he isn't replacing the necro.

witch doctor looks pretty sick. the locusts(or wtv), the minion, the wall looks....ok seems like it could be effective in some scenarios. However i love the blowing up of your own minions, and it seems to deal decent AoE dmg. Could be really effective combined with the locusts for quik farming.
and i think it would be a tragedy to see the necro (if hes similar to d2) since it would be almost the same exact thing as the WD.
I think that, gameplay wise, the Witch Doctor is going to be sweeeeeet as a honey/peanutbutter/chili sandwich toast.
I can't say that I like the Zombie Wall, it feels too "ZOMG SO COOOOL"-overdone. It's almost as if Blizzard try way, way to hard not to be bland, and ends up.. bland. It's like people that really, really try so hard with being unique they end up just like all the other "unique" people, be they goths or punks.
Nor do I like his name, or his feathered voodoo style. I've got 10 bucks riding on him having a "Jamaican" accent, aswell. It just doesn't appeal to me in any way.
But as far as the pure, raw gameplay itself goes (and suprisingly enough, that's not all too far for me, since I feel that I must 'feel good' with a character aswell) it looks pretty darn sweet. With the summoning, and the imbuing of the summoned troops, be it through fire, disease or otherwise. Lobbing flaming skulls against the enemy.. I can't really wait to see some more abilities.
I like everything so far about the WD too except the Zombie wall. I agree that it's sorta trying too hard. I mean it IS awesome but misleading and if it's gona have a ridiculously awesome name like zombie wall it should be reflected in the skill and that wall of zombies should get up and walk in a straight, lumbering line instead of just being a lamer version of firewall.
Also, I don't know why but I don't like the name WD. I don't really mind it but it doesn't have that Diablo ring to it. Also, I like the character design except for the stupid BRIGHT PURPLE GLOW.
Everything else tho is pretty badass and it's going to be the first class I play. And I WILL max zombie wall ;P
Hopefully they tweak the pet explosion skill so that whatever element the mob is empowered with changes the effect of the explosion. Against the last boss fight you can see the other female necro throws the fire globs at her summons and they turn fiery, I'd hope this means they deal aoe fire damage when you sacrifice them
I'm still pissed off they took out necro and put this punk.
I mean WD has sweet moves and all that but why not just keep the look of necro.
He was my favorite in D2 and they took out one of the core characters. They better make up for this nonsense and make the new class badass.
Corpse Exlplosion (or something to that effect, hell call it Zombie Detonation for all I care).
ya i like this skill... what if they added an extra dimention to it though, like a timed corpse explode. would make it a little more strategy based instead of just clicking and blowing up bodies. like you see a dude running away but happens to be going towards a body, you hit the skill and as he runs by two seconds later BOOM! didnt even see it coming, haha. personally i think it would be fun.
No? The first thing that pops in my mind when I hear Witch Doctor is that funny little fetish shaman from the Diablo2 jungle
!!!
I hate those things. Their fire attacks never fails to catch me at the worst times. But yeah, it's the first thing that pops into my mind too but notice how you said "shaman" instead of WD. See, IMO, shaman just sounds better and more fitting than witch doctor. WD sounds a bit too "real-world" whereas shaman has a more fictitious-ring to it.
And according to wikipedia: Shamanism refers to a range of traditional beliefs and practices concerned with communication with the spirit world. Practitioners of shamanism are known as shamans. There are many variations of shamanism throughout the world, though there are some beliefs that are shared by all forms of shamanism:
That spirits can play important roles in human lives.
The shaman can control and/or cooperate with the spirits for the community's benefit.
The spirits can be either good or bad.
Shamans engage various processes and techniques to incite trance; such as: singing, dancing, taking entheogens, meditating and drumming.
Animals play an important role, acting as omens and message-bearers, as well as representations of animal spirit guides.
The shaman's spirit leaves the body and enters into the supernatural world during certain tasks.
The shamans can treat illnesses or sickness; they are healers.
all of which sound like what the witch doctor is doing, conjuring illusions, inducing trances and communication with the dead
Do the same Search for Witch Doctor and take a look what it says Its much closer
Edit;
Reading your list it sounds NOTHING like the Witch Doctor.
- Spirits play a vital role in lives, yes, but the ones which kill you and bathe in your flesh arnt usually there, except when the witch Doctor summons them
- Cooperate with Spirits for the Communities benefit: Well yeah, if Raising the dead to slaughter your enemies is to the communities benefit.
- Spirits can be good and bad: Well the Undead Mongrel and Zombies have been shown so far...they dont seem too good.
- Trance? Doesnt sound like the Witch Doctor. Perhaps an Acid Trip
- Animals are fine for the witch doctor, especially if they are already dead.
- Spirit leaving his body? Doesnt sound like the Witch Doctor
- A Witch Doctor does NOT heal, unless you count killing someone and reviving their corpse an action of Healing.

So if we are going for what the real world definitions are... Why the fuck do Druids shape shift?...
This is a game, we use hollywood definitions. As such, the WitchDoctor can cast a spell that makes cracks in the ground and teddy bears craw out of the cracks to serve you and it would be true, because its a HOLLYWOOD DEFINITON!

It looks like the WD has to much power even at the lower levels( if thats what level they showed him in the demo) You cant have a character that has too much power.

If the WD looks like this one from the Diablo3's art work, he will be awesome:thumbsup:

You could get buffs that have finishers as the timer runs out.
Like the Poison spell could recast itself as the pet timer finishes.
