Compered to the 2009's skills, theres no change, wich disapoints me in one aspect. Where are his summons ?
Right now we have only three: dogs, gargantua and the fetish army. And with the confirmation that the zombie charger is not a summon it only gets worse...
Seriously, for a pet class he should have at least 5 summons. I"m not saying that hes not good in terms of power.. It's just that i expect alot more option in summoning skills, specially in a class that have background to summon anything: animals, fiends, undeads and any mix of those.
I know not all his skills are revealed, but still... The majority of WD's skills are just AoE DoTs... I wish they had invested more on Summon, Summon Synergies (like the sacrifice spell) and Curses. Do you guys feel the same ?
NOTE: I know that runes may change your summons. But i won't consider it because it's not a entirely different skill. Ex: ZD and Fire ZDs are no different gameplay wise.
Runes can change the functionality of the spell quite a bit, look at the Plague of Toads/Giant Toad. That means that the fetish army could behave a lot more different with various runes, which to me feels as the same variation as a Clay/Blood/Iron/Fire Golem.
Now I do agree that one extra summon wouldn't hurt. A permanent ranged summon could work, as would a buff summon. IAnother possibility is a skill that temporarily strengthens summon damage +X%.
Curses could work, but I don't know if that's what they want the WD to use. It would make it possible to take 7 skills wholly devoted to summoning, and I think they want the character to be involved as well, not stand in the back casting curses and providing buffs.
I'm sure the WD will have some kind of high level summon that we just haven't seen yet. And many skills could possibly be changed to pets (ie Plague of Toads), so part of being a summoner WD would just be having certain runes.
I always viewed the WD summons more like the Druid's summons. A couple weaker ones (zombie dogs/wolves) and one stronger (gargantuan/grizzly). The druid also had his vine and sage but I think we have enough skills/traits to gain hp and mana. So, I don't know what other summons they could have.

I wouldn't be terribly suprised if they brought the vine back for the WD. I always liked that thing, and it would fit with the WD, and they've been bringing back D2 skills with a new flair (ie Meteor, Multishot, and Hydra). It would also fit well with runes, like instead of there being multiple types of vines, you can have one rune give you mana back, another eat corpses for health, etc.

There are many possible summons.
Offensive glass canon summon.
Ranged small summon.
Ranged large summon.
Summon with life/mana leeching ability
Summon that mocks enemies skills
Pluss summon related skills:
Curse that allows you to focus your pets in one target.
Curse that allows you to buff your summons for a brief time.
Well... In D2 the necromancer was the only real "pet class" and, due the lack of summon variety, 90% of the summonmancers used the same build.
The druid is the same. He does not have a real summon build and, if we focus on the summon side, he has only one build (people allways get max oak sage, some wolfs and single point on grizz).
The lack of variety in D2 bothers me alot, specially after playing other games were the same pet class could choose many different summons (and even combinate different summons).
There are different ways for the summons to work but not any other type. It's basically many/weak and few/strong. The way they act is a different situation and I think runes will help in that area.

I really like that idea, you can go down the path of a raw summoner dependent upon the runes which you have.
and what about locusts? thats sort of a summon, the locusts dont just eat an enemy and leave, they have kind of an ai, they move around to other enemies ,which makes them kind of a summon too
I think the runes will create many more summons. For example the Acid cloud (i think thats what its called) has a rune to summon little slimmer things. these will more than likely be considered summons themselves and have the advantages given by traits like mongrels or any other summon. I think (an really hope) that the wd will be different from previous summoner classes because it wont just have alot of the same summon out but many types at the same time. This will make for VERY interesting game play when playing as AND fighting them
