INVIS' Wave of Light [Nirvana] Build Explanation + Calculator

  • #1
    Hi Fellow Monks

Today I present my tutorial on a build I have been playing a lot lately, the "Nirvana" Build (Infinite Spirit Build). The main mechanic to trigger this effect is by using infuse with light along with fist of fury. To better demonstrate this, please see below for the first part of tutorial, but before that, enjoy the power of this build :)

Video Tutorial on how to use the build (With Life Steal of course):

For more discussion and Q&A, you can also visit this fantastic post:

The second part of the explanation is to work out which gem is better and what weapon is better for that 5s duration, which is most of our DPS output, to see a tutorial how to calculate this and how to use my calculator, please see this video here:

Finally you can download my calculator here,

Very nice guide. That's probably the best I've seen anyone use the Nirvana build. I've tried it out a decent amount but Im not as efficient as you.

My only critique is when you're farming Fields, you're attempting to pull too many monsters and going too far so you're leaving a lot of monsters behind.

Im gonna try your farming spec.

    Very nice calculator as well.

That is very true, I started to use the spec when I was farming DE, I tend to leave a few monsters behind and go for a faster run. Things will clear better if I use EP there, but overall, the feel of the speed seems most right when I farm like that. Not necessary the most efficient but it's my preference.

^I've been leveling my 2nd monk using this build:

I wonder if your farming spec will be faster. I'll try it out and see.

One thing I tend to run nowadays is the dashing strike when I am DW, or TR when I am 2 handed. I believe a great build always involve a movement speed utility, not just fleet footed. It also makes the run feel faster. But try it out yourself and see which one is more efficient. At the end of the day, you should also choose a build you feel most comfortable playing and most enjoyable :)

    great guide, just one question.

I am good when i am playing solo, but people really get mad about the knockback and the fear from echoing fury (i know it doesnt proc a lot).

Is it a good alternative to use a won khim lau as off hand and replace the wall of light rune for pillar of the ancients? have you ever tested this ?

thank you invis, really love your guides and concern with the monk community

It depends on whether you still have sweeping wind cyclone, no cyclone, no need WKL, and if you have CM Wiz, there will also be no fear from EF, better to just go ahead and use cyclone strike to pull with pillar. If you are playing in group, 95% of the time you do not want to use any other rune of wave of light apart from pillar, unless you are really out DPSing the MP you are doing, knock back= less eDPS.
