Just wanted to drop by the forums and share with the community the build with which i have been playing for a while now! Searched a bit around and have not seen anything similar to what i'm using either, so here it goes.
It is really fun, doesn't require no insane gear and at the same time it's really efficient movement and farming wise on all monster power levels, depending on your play style.
In the video you'll see i'm just briefly calling out the skills i'm using, it's really no rocket science and does not require much explanation, since there is added a short game play video aswell along the presentation so you can get an idea on how it works.
Also in the youtube video you`ll probably notice that i'm saying to use wall of light on wave of light skill but after playing around a bit more i found out empowered rune to be a lot more cost and farm efficient.
About the skills that are used:
fists of thunder - quickening
wave of light - empowered wave or wall of light, depends on your playstile
cyclone strike - implosion
sweeping wind - cyclone
dashing strike - quicksilver
mantra of conviction - overawe
Since this is a very spirit consuming build you will notice that i am going for the quickening rune on fists of thunder while dual wielding. Not so sure how good this build does with a two hander since i did not try even tho i have a skorn. When i play this build i want to have as many attacks per second as possible, because the more hits and crits i do the more spirit i regen through the quickening rune.
Passives: fleet footed, exalted soul, one with everything
Thing that is probably most needed to make this build viable? as much crit as possible i'd say since you want to hit them on wave of light.
You can play around with the build, nothing is set in stone, but the current setup is pretty solid!
Also the evening i came up with this build i also did the video, so the gameplay is kinda dodgy, meaning you can achieve much greater efficiency once you get used to the build
Cheers and hope you enjoy it.
Since this is my first post i'm not allowed to use links so just check the next post !
Because I didn't like the lack of control you have with Thunder clap:
- you only move on the third hit
- you "have" to move on the third hit
- you have to select a target to move
- you can't chose a direction, where you want to move.
Obviously my gear still sucks, so I'm forced to use Serenity with Ascention and transedence to heal a bit more.
I have thought as well of using cyclone but I just don't like it. It cost more then WOL/empowered and does 3 times less damage.
It sounded fun before I tested it, to pull them all together and then smash then with one big burst to oblivion, but tbh I'd rather use 2 WOL and have one more free skill slot.
I would like to replace serenity by Breath of Heaven /Blazing wrath if my gear permits it.
I'm defenitly gone try out FoT Quickening, because spamming my WOL makes me goo oom ^^ (or oos sounds weird but w/e)
I run the same build as ZeroNine but use crippling wave - rising tide instead of fist of thunder - quickening. Gather groups with cyclone strike increasing your spirit generation substantially then spawn many cyclones with crippling wave/sweeping wind if there are more more mobs on the far side of the screen dashing strike behind the group currently being damaged gather them all up and dash behind the second group closer to the first stack of mobs or to your next stack if you want to create larger stacks of mobs. Rinse repeat and you just drag everything along and then basically alternate WoL/cyclone strike when you are satisfied with the stack size. In Higher MP coop games this makes the group move incredibly fast since everything on the screen is constantly being vortexed to 1 spot. If you can get a WD running pestilence/bat blender to tag mobs off the screen it also helps a ton for the more open zones.
I also swap out fleet of foot for seize the initiative/resolve for MP over 5.
loved this idea, and tried it out today, didn't use fleet footed tho since I run on higher MP i need a more defensive passive. Either way it worked great, and I found myself much more involved in the run, you're busier, you're more attentive, and you're actually using skills often.
Hats off, i've been using the cookie cutter builds forever, and i'm not about to try and do the elitist move of comparing efficiency , because ultimately the build is still very viable, and is much more fun to play, and that to me, is worth a thumbs up.
Tried this on mp9, the play's more open, i agree with other posters here that fot:tc will put you into stupid position sometimes, DS gives you more freedom, and CS is good for gathering elites (except those yellows)
Bell helps me survive easier, esp. on reflect packs (i only have 3% LS)
The build is fun, thanks OP
