Please help choosing which gear to change first

    Hello,

I would like to ask You Guys and Lads if You can help me with my monk gear.

I was playing my monk last time on 1.0.4 version, few days ago I’ve started to play once again, changed almost all of my gear just to achieve some decent DPS. Now I have some money left (81mln) and I am wondering where I can get most dps increase.

Now it’s 129k, with 428k EHP (should be more … ;-)), here is the link to the d3up char:

    http://d3up.com/b/556608/andy-new

    And link to my profile:

    http://eu.battle.net...ile/AndyK-1447/
    http://eu.battle.net...447/hero/410637

    And link to diabloprogress:

http://www.diablopro...447/Andy/410637 (on that moment it is not yet updated, just hit the update button).

Ok, so basically, I have some plans what I would like to do:
    1. craft better bracers, with cold and all ress to get more EHP with the same amount of critic hit chance, vit and dex. It will be hard but some day I will get them :)

    2. Better shoulders – I was thinking about Vile Vard, but better than mine are 20mln + so I am not sure if this is a good idea, not much stats, a lot of money.

    3. Weapon in OH, I was thinking … suprise, Won Kim Lau ;-) in theory, for about 50mln I can get decent one I think but I am not sure whether this dps (which is not showing on the stats) is really so good … any advice?

    4. I would like also to get Inna pants but I would loose almost 100 resist from all types … that would be ok if I could get Mempo with all res and critic chance (it’s am ust since my Inna’s Radiance have critic chance) but it is too expensive (300mln+) …

So … if anyone have some time and can check my profile I would be more that glad :)

    Thanks !!

    Andy

Just real quick I would suggest trying what I did to add some substantial DPS.

Ditch the Inna's chest. Buy Inna's pants.

Grab you a 80-90 dex Tal Rasha chest.

Obviously upgrading those gems is crucial. Even getting them to just Radiant Star would make a huge difference.

Tal Rasha chests with dex are dirty cheap. Make sure to look for the 9% IAS on the chest as well.

You could click my siggy and take a look at the build I use with TR chest. It seems counter-intuitive, but it works.....very well.

    To illustrate my point above, as well as to turn people on to this idea of using a Tal chest;

Here's the Tal I chose. It cost me 2.2m on BiN.

It gives me 3k more DPS than this crafted chest, that when gemmed, sported a whopping 400+ Dex

The Tal chest gave me over 10k more DPS than this Inna's chest I had before it (With non-CC Mempo)

It's a great option. Also, a very cheap chest for what it can give you if you use it right. 2-piece Nats....2-piece Inna's.....and a Tal Chesty.

Well as he said u can get a Tal chest.Attacking faster is always better and its pretty cheap.I hate being bellow 50k HP so I replaced my Inna chest with a double vit + life percent Tal Chest, and buy Inna pants with VIT they are so good.U can get a pretty good deal on 130-140 vit ones, depending on how much u are willing to spend.

HArd to say with your budget tbh.You could try and get a better oh, like with 100+ dex and LS.Just search AH and see what you can buy for your budget.Or as you said get a Won Kim Lau with LS and decent %Lightning ; like 22%+ with 790+dps, and yes its good.

Another thing you can do is get a Mempo without CC but with double dex roll.Like 220-240.They are very good and as long as you can keep 45+cri% u are ok.Dont underestimate the noncrit mempo.I really think for budget builds in general, non crit mempos are very very efficient and give you tons of stats.( either that or Sweeping wind Inna helm ) U have nats ring with CC which makes getting that mempo an easier choice since u wont lose so much crit.

If you do go Mempo do not get Tal Chest, and rather go for a VIT inna chest like 190+.Ofc that's depending on how much money u have left as u can get 240 vit ones for like 20-30 mil. If u do go Inna chest with double vit, consider getting Nat's boots with double resist. Its more efficient than going for 70 vit.I would say go for vit nats boots when u have higher end gear and can get the 220+ dex ones.

    Hey :)

    Thanks for the tips.

I was thinking about Tal Rash check but with high vit (more than 250) and without dex. Which would be better?
For dps of course with vit but I am not sure whether it's woth it ;)

I will loose also 46 cold ress, this is what I am stacking but that's not a big deal.

Ok, so I think I will get those gems soon ;)

Hmm as for the mempo, I will need to check this, on AH (when servers will stand up ;)) and on d3up.

20-30mln on one piece is affordable now :)

As for the boots I think that will be next step after tal rash/inna chest/mempo/OH ;)

I will post d3up or maybe already in game dps and ehp after checking the upgrades.

Thank You very much ! :)

100% agree. I bought a cheap ass Tal chest just to check it out, I plan on buying a better one with more vita. With Tal chest, you have to run Inna's hat unless you use the Inna belt, so that that you keep the 130 Dex set bonus. But vita is an issue I'm addressing it this afternoon when I hit the market for a far higher vita roll on my chesty.

If you don't use Tal chest, Diavolo was very correct in saying that a good high Dex non-CC Mempo is highly underrated.

Is it worth getting tal rash armor with more that 100 vita? For example, about 20 mln for 150-160 vit

My advice would be to pick up a cheap chest like I did to test drive it.

I'm gonna try sniping a 200+ vita Tal in about 10 min.....wish me luck.....

If I win this chest, and if you play US server....I'd be happy to slide you my old one for free just to try it. (no gems of course :Thumbs Up: )

    Good luck :)

Well, Im EU player so no try possible but thank You anyway :) I bought gems and inna pats, dmg boots to 145k, not bad, life the same (maybe few k more) but I lost ress from my pants, almost 100.

Now I am looking where I can get ress ;) And the rest of the stuff

btw - I have now 500 ress, is that enought? Or should I raise it? Or leave it and concentrate on the rest of equp about we are talking about here ;)

    YAY......sniper wins again.

About resistance; It seems 500 is a good break-point. Many Monks are aiming for that mark. I run just under 500 and it's a bit squishy. I stack armor to compensate. Once it gets over 500 it seems so much better.

    That was nice :)

AS soon as I finish my run I will search for similar one :)

You cant go wrong with a high Vit Tal-Rasha. Also on the helm I went with a 6% CC Innas to give me my set bonus and it gave me a much better increase in DPS over the 269 Dex/9 AS Mempo I was using. You can stack AS on so many other items weaps/Rings/Gloves etc I found it a waste on a helm as it was way to pricy for 9AS/6CC Mempo.

My only other advise is craft, craft, craft. You will get upgrades but dont let yourself get frusterated. Its still wayyyy cheaper than buying items with those stats if they can even roll them. If you are using OWE try crafting for the All Resist stat on items. This can allow you to ditch OWE and open up that passive slot for another DPS boost. Look for crafted items with AR and Fire or Phys resistance.

Look at my gear to see the direction I chose and other options available. I dont use OWE or STI and my Guardians Path passive is really and extra passive for me that I switch out to Fleet Footed if Im farming alone. I farm MP8 quite easily and when in a party with friends we roll MP9 or 10. I need the challenge or I get bored.

In theory I can put some ress up with vile vard, cost about 20 mln.

I know that I can craft better but I will be crafting bracers all the time I think as they have no cold and all ress at all ;) (crafting them all the time)

And then, buy tal rash (of course over 220 vit is for about 20 mln+) ;) but I can afford those two pieces for sure.

What do You think about that plan ?
  • #14
I wouldnt worry about your bracers. They need an AR roll but they arent horrible. Id be crafting amulets first(you can do much better) and then gloves, again you can do much better than what you have.

You also really need to look at getting more LS. As your DPS goes up LS is crucial if you plan on doing high MP's.

    Thats MHO of course.
  • #15
Yea double LS is needed for high MPs.Tho like a lot of others do, I have two Won Kim Laus , one with LS and one with CD and I switch when I see reflect pack, cause other than that its not really needed if you have enough EHP.But you will do that when u get more gold, for now two decent LS rares, or a good snipe on a LS Won Kim Lau will be ok.

500 REsist is ok, I mean depending on your MP. I'm a physical monk ( since 1.0.0=) ,dunno what's wrong with me , and luck has it that my crafted bracers have physical ) and If I play low MP I just go there with like 300 all res and 640 physical and Im just fine.

Now if u want to go High MP with 500 resist, u would need to have good HP 45k+ and some armor ( Vile wards + some random armor on another piece, tho that is not mandatory, vile wards should sufice. ) and more dps. With your current gear I'm guessing u can do MP5 comfortably, as MP7 reflect dmg would demolish you atm and stuff like plague.

If u want to stick with Inna Helm, just get a high vit Tal Chest. Now depending on your HP, u should either get one with no dex and high vit + maybe some life% or with dex and high vit.

Idea with 2 WKL is not bad :)

I've crafter new bracers (and some amulets and gloves but only bracers were ok), 4k life less but over 100 ress all more so I think its good to switch them with previous one's

I've added Vile Vard as well. They were not so expensive, later (but really later ;)) I can think about crafting or new Vile Vard with better vit.

here is what I have now:

    http://d3up.com/b/556608

damage increase, 40k ehp more (as I remember from previous profile) and 668 ress all now, 500 was too low, poison was destructive for me :)

Now ... I think I will switch to tal rash with high vit as life is under 40k, what do You think ? damage will be the same I think but ehp boost should be quite big :)

What do You think Guys ?

And thank's a lot for all the analysis :) and Your time to help me :)
  • #17
Yea mean u can get the tal with high vit np.Either go for one with dex and high vit or just with high vit and % life and make it a mini inna chest with IAS.Check prices on AH and see what you can get.Get at least 200 vit on it, and like 5% life.

    WOW.....gratz bro.

Your Monk took quite a turn in just a few days. Good job.

Again, I'd give a cheap tals Dex chest a test drive and see what you think. If it doesn't balance well with your gear, well....then you know not to drop more coin on a better set. I'd buy the junkiest, cheapest dex 9% IAS Tals chest you can, so that if it doesn't work out, you haven't lost anything really.

Tals may not feel right for some gear combos/skill builds. Myself, I run Deadly Reach as my primary attack, so I need fast weapons and all the speed I can get to spit nados and regen life via LS/LoH etc.

Ruksak, my monk had 37k dps 10 days ago :) Thanks :)

So, according to d3up, I have 3 options:

    1. tal rash with dex and vit
    2. tal rash with high vit
    3. tal rash with 200 + vit and % life

And, basing on d3, here are the boosts (all tal rash couted with 9& ASP)

    1. 73 dex, 223 vit ->
    +4,519.29DPS Change
    +12,607.9EHP Change

    2. 285vit (cannot find good stat like cold res or something like that now):

    -6.92DPS Change
    +39,686.59EHP Change

    3. 256vit, 9% life

    -6.92DPS Change
    +59,773.91EHP Change

Well, the bet, huge EHP boos (502k overall) but it is most expensive option :)

lower stats, 227 vit, 7% life:

    -6.92DPS Change
    +37,844.09EHP Change

worse that this one with 285 vit.

But, bracers have no vit at all and I am going to craft better, with vit. So in theory +% life is better for longer gear build I think.

What do You think Guys ? :)

And I am thinking also about WKL in OH ... but not sure if get decent damage for that amount of money which will left me after tal rash :)

    UPDATE:

Now again update, ring and tal rash changed.

Now I am wondering what could be next ;) farming demonic essence? Changing weapon?
