On realy high budgets for endgame gear its again kinda even out between all classes again.

You sure about that? I admit, I haven't looked intensely into the matter, but from what I've seen, if we're talking about endgame gear, barb pulls way ahead with their hota spec.

    You are incorrect

I had the previous world record ├╝berbosses solo with BIS/close to BIS in all slots. (and still have the legit one, in my mind atleast)

I used over 8 hours recording those runs. (close to perfect)

Then this exploting monk comes along killing all them in under 3min (with not even good runs + one other player join in the end of each fight..)

What gear he had pre snapshot i dont know, but he open inventory in the last fight to change weapons you can see he only have 25k dps on the "datasheet" --> http://i.imgur.com/HxGSp.jpg

Other video of the same monk running trough mp10 monster liker they were mp1

    http://v.youku.com/v...k3MzUzODYw.html

Something have to be changed, and i suggest:

When you switch gear with sweeping wind active, it automatically de-activates. Pretty simple solution, no drawbacks ?

Yes barbs doing more dmg but i was more refering to that any class is able to do mp10 on that budget while on mid budget there are at least 2 excluded. ;)

That explains kinda well what gear snapshot monks using for their different sets.

Yes i have a basic understanding how sw + gear swapping works.

The only time a barb (with BIS items) can compete with the damage output of a "min maxing" exploiting monk is when the fight/measurement last under 15 sec (Azmodan)

To be able to compete in those 15s the barb need to use WOTB Insanity + Earthquake (120sec cooldown on both). While the monk can sustain that damage output.

And this is without even taking into consideration the difference in EHP/substain vs a glass cannon 15sec barb and a min maxing sw gearswapping monk. (the monk cant be killed in hes post snapshot gear)

    *edit*

Please not that i dont want blizzard to nerf/change the sw skill itself, i just think they should make it so gear swapping ain't possible anymore. (while keeping the sw buff)

    The best solution:

When you switch gear with sweeping wind active, it automatically de-activates. Pretty simple solution, no drawbacks ?

Obviously I meant without the gearswap "exploit" and just the normal snapshot. Considering that you linked a barb video, guess I was right. :P

Thats his barb in the video. ;)

Hum, looking at the datamined notes, a ~30% buff to sweeping wind, guess that means they'll remove snapshotting completely and this is to compensate for blinding flash.
Too bad the developers don't seem to know how blinding flash works or they think non-TR monks need a nerf, seeing that flash adds way more than 30% with even little AS and dual-wield.
Meanwhile TR gets a buff and doesn't actually lose SW dps as they have next to no AS anyways, lol.

What a shit patch for monks.I swear these guys dont even play the game.Nerf our snapshot instead of nerfing gear swaping is retarded. So basically blinding flash is obsolete now.
  • #69
I'm sooo glad this got fixed as this exploit was rather hilarious. They should buff the monk in other kinds of ways instead, beginning with wave of light seems like a good (albeit slow) start!

good to nerf the gear swap, but remove the snapchot??? WTF

I really dont think the dmg increase is going to make up for the snaphot when casting flash with our main gear without swapping... But oh well

Thing is with buffing spirit spenders, I don't really use spirit spenders. Because Mantras cost 50 spirit, and in about 3 seconds I can generate about 50 spirit. So all my spirit goes towards keeping mantra up (Just pure observation really no data to back this up). I haven't got another 75 spirit to spend on a different skill, because I'd much prefer to use that spirit to keep up the 3 second 48% dmg buff to all my skills instead.

You only get a 24% damage increase from hitting your mantra over and over and now you'll have to compare that to hitting a cowbell, etc.

I'm looking forward to the patch, swapping gear for opening chests wasn't fun and it was no fun hassling around with those 10 seconds on sweeping wind all the time.

Dmg wise in High mp, overawe spam will still be king.So buffind spirit spenders isnt going to fix anything.Removing snapshot was a mistake made by rookies. They should not allow gear swapping like that, that would've been better.

But in the end if u really look at it.Basically absolutely nothing has change for monks. FoT/Cyclone + mantra spam still king in high mp.

err, Overawe rune here you go http://us.battle.net/d3/en/class/monk/active/mantra-of-conviction

As a Monk myself (Plvl 68), I am so happy about snapshot being taken away, I have difficulty finding the words to explain my joy.

FINALLY, monk gear with skill bonuses will become more valuable than just being the "snapshot-shit" you carry in your bags. This re-enables some of those affixes to become balanced and desirable on gear for more than just a quick activation.

Good change imo. It was a clear oversight, abused by some - and it was hightime that blizz fixed it.
Add to that, thanks Blizz for the buffs; My TR farming build/gear appreciates it.
Not so much my ubers stuff, but I am quite ok with the tradeoff.

48% dmg buff overall, but hitting ur mantra over and over gives u just 24% more compared to 24% basic
  • #78
btw i liked that blind snapsot or combination strike one, it adds at least somethin to do when u play monk.. they should nerf gearswapping, not snapshoting...
  • #79
For those behind the curve, WoL buff (and LTK) is HUGE. You can still easily spam WoL-Empowered Wave (40 spirit) AND Overawe by picking up Quickening or Rising Tide (high mob density). The slight fewer Cyclones is more than made up for dropping 800%+ bells usually more than once a second.

Yeah, HUGE buff. Go try it before you hate on it.
