300m Budget Monk - Need Advice

  • #1
I have 300m to gear my monk. I want to be able to kill mp10 and just slam mp0 for para levels.

I'm leaning towards an echoing fury MH and Crit Hit/ Lifesteal OH. I just want to make sure that 2.8% lifesteal in offhand is enough to sustain. Or will I need to get LoH in my rings and ammy.

    Any suggestions on gear?

You will regret going for a Echoing Fury for high MP levels. The fear will drive you insane.

Go for a decent rare instead.

MP 10, EF, 300m. Not gonna happen. If you really want to go the EF route you must have atleast unbuffed dps of close to 200k otherwise your just gonna annoy yourself and your teamates because of that fear. You're better off by going rare or the Fist of something someting that has stun proc and WKL combo with LS

You have to chase the mobs around and it gets infuriating

high dps EF and socket + crit dmg + LS combo is way to go. Won khim Lau is also used by many great monks.

Fear in EF might annoy some people but I just think they dont know how to use EF wisely. If there are multiple monsters, and the moster you hit flees, start hitting the next one, it´ll come back to you. If there are only one monster OR you just want to kill one specific monster from a group (elite), you can position yourself, so that moster´s allways running against walls or some objects. And when they are feared, they wont even hit you.

2,8% lifesteal is enough against for everything else than reflect damage monsters in high MP (MP6 or higher). So if you want to blew through MP 10 reflect packs, your gonna need more. For everything else, just take as high DPS/EHP items as possible.

Would LoH on rings and ammy be able to compensate?

Sure! I have 600 LoH ammy in my stash in case I want to do high MP levels (I also wear 300LoH ring all the time) and it really helps. You can swap that jewelry only when you need it. That is when I need to kill siegebraker or reflect damage packs.

EDIT: And I would like to add that blizzard have stated that they might change Reflect damage ability somehow.

or just find an ef with a low proc rate on the fear. those exist.

yeah low proc rate ef if you want to use it. I also recommend WKL as your OH. Fantastic wep.

No. On high MP and with high DPS you would need more LoH than possible to compensate, even for only 1 wep with Life Steal. I'm talking out of experience, but I can back it up with the following:

I have 230k dps and 4.9% Life Steal. This gives me 1.6m single target dps with SW and 24/48% MoC up, and this equals 13500 healing pr/sec (on inferno where Life Steal only gives 20% healing). With only 1 Life Steal weapon I would get 6750 hps, give or take. This is not enough to outheal reflect dmg on MP9/10 (armor and resist at 5k/600).

Life on hit does only return life on our FoT and it gives 75% LoH as life (you get nothing from Sweeping Wind). With let's say 2000 Loh you would get .75x2000xatt/sec. With 2.0 att speed this would be aprox 3750 life pr sec. (aoe from FoT will give you return from every mob hit, so let's say 5000 life pr sec).

The problem is: how easy is it to get 2000 LoH on gear? I guess it is doable, but for me there is no alternative. Life Steal all the way. Consider this. Reflect mobs surround you. Sweeping Wind deals a ton of dmg to them, but will not heal you as long as you only have LoH. You would get healed from Life Steal.

That's not the issue, even if you sit there waiting for the mobs to return to you, you're losing effective DPS when they run outside of your SW + Fists AOE, you end up losing more damage than it's worth sadly :(

My experience: EF(fear) + Thunderclap = chase through molten = dead Lucretia.

Put my EF on AH last night. I'm doing about 12k less damage, but I'm living more. I like the saying: a dead monk does no damage.

Ignore this until my EF is sold ;)

Easier said than done. 1) playing with a screen busied by multi players, including Wiz & WD, sometimes you can't even tell you're chasing them, and 2) hitting the shift key didn't stop teleport on thunderclap.
