One: Is sweepings winds still based on a capture of your current dps at the time. I'm throwing blinding flash back into my build for giggles and I don't remember seeing a nerf/change to that. I.E. sweeping winds will do the same amount of damage as long as it is up - as when I first cast it (after using BF and BoH)?
Second: What farming path do you sweeping winds folk use? Act 1, 3 - zones, most effecient? I'm farming at mp7 and just curious as to better spots to farm for PL exp and of course, shinies.
I think that if you want to farm xp and legendaries, MP7 is not such a good idea. MP2 means you kill 10x the ammount of monsters in less time, while not needing to use defensive skills so much.
Higher MP levels are good for key farming or killing ubers, but not for XP or legendaries... unfortunately.
The challenge at MP2 is gone, but I find a lot of legendaries this way, and the experience is also great. The increase in MP doesn't justify the added time it takes to kill mobs.
About sweeping wind, if what you want is places to farm to keep it up for a long time, with monsters everywhere, the alkaizer route is probably the best you can do. (WW barbs also need a constant stream of mobs apparently)
But there is another build you might try, the constant Tempest Rush build.
Get the cheapest 4 inna's set pieces (or good ones if you can afford it) and get at least 4 (the more the better) spirit regeneration items.
Also, get the skills that give you the most spirit regenerationIf the rest of your equipment is good, you can fly with it, activate your sweeping wind all the time (inna set reduces spirit required to 10), with the large radius sweeping wind too, and the 25% from tempest rush, you don't even have to stop to kill the monsters.
TR is kind of weak, so you probably will have to try it at MP1.
it's kind of a crazy but fun build, and if you want XP and legendaries, it might be the best choice
I've tossed around the effeceincy versus higher mp level rewards and I felt like the big boots to exp gain and MF was worth it. And right now I'm clearing an act in about 45 minutes. But I guess the logic is at MP2 I can do the Act in maybe half the time?
What about sweeping winds - still based on a capture of your dps at time of casting it? I thought they were going to nerf that, to keep people from weapon swapping?

It's an addivite bonus, not multiplicative.
Going from mp2 to mp7 won't increase your total xp gain by 55%, it only increases your experience bonus +55% on top of xp gem in your helmet, hellfire ring etc. Same for MF, while mp7 adds a whooping 125% mf over mp2 you probably already run around with ~ 300% total at 5 NV stacks. Of course you'll notice going from 300 to 425% mf but a huge part of the drops are already guaranteed rares (NV), it shouldn't be like night and day.
And don't forget: monster get almost 6 times as much hitpoints and deal twice the damage going from mp2 to mp7 but all you get is +55% bonus exp and +125% mf on top of what you already got via gear/paragon level.
But anyway just write your xp down before a run and afterwards and calculate your xp/h.
And right now I'm clearing an act in about 45 minutes. But I guess the logic is at MP2 I can do the Act in maybe half the time?
If you got the gear to clear whole act 3 in 45 minutes (minus a zone and a bonus dungeon or two) on mp7 then ... wow It takes me about one hour to clear act 3 on mp3 (well until my bags and bank is full, that's about 100 rares give or take - identifying time included). The idea behind low monsterpower is that you can wear more offensive gear and use 4 piece Inna's without perfect rolls, thus lacking resistance but gain a TON of mobility via fleet footed +24% base run speed + Tempest Rush/Tailwind specc (sacrificing even more defense on the passives). But that's no issue, you just plow things up in blind/serenity combo and if things get messy you can still back off easily thanks to Tempest Rush.
edit: http://us.battle.net...3/hero/22253075 is your monk, isn't it? While your effective health is fine i can't see how you want to farm mp7 effectively with your current dps. Must take ages to kill extra health elite packs (minute+?!).
Thanks for the input.
First - when I say clear an act I mean doing something similiar to the Alkazier run - not the entire act. Didn't mean to be misleading there.
Second - yeah, it is much, much slower on mp7, but I felt that the bonus and relative speed of kills (sans the Extra Health) was going to weigh better in the end for effectiveness. I started replacing my MF gear to try and bring in more damage - the Temptest build wasn't something that I had considered.
I guess my focus was Paragon first and if legendary or set dropped along the way, so be it. I'm going to give the MP2 a shot and take a look at the exp gained, as suggested. I feel that some increase in MP might be warrented, but I can let the numbers speak for themselves.
i agree with them. Shoot, i had been doing paragon leveling on MP1, but picked up a skorn and dps on sheet jumped to 99K unbuffed, so, i'll bump it up to 2 or 3 so that i can actually maintain sweeping winds. I was also thinking about snagging the other 2 pieces of the Inna's set for the reduced cost of SW. It reduces it by 70 so, i believe that makes it cost only 5 spirit and not 10, either way a huge difference. and i've ran around with tempest rush before, mostly just between packs but on mp1 and 2 with 100K dps, you plow thru the whites
So I gave the Tempest Rush build a try and got 3 more pieces of Inna's to complete it. Sadly, my dps went up by about 5k with the full set, but I lost 15k health and 350 or so in resistances. I started on MP 3 and while the build is extremely fun, I feel like the speed at which I'm killing would be the same, if not slightly better with the cookie-cutter Sweeping Winds build.
My dps is around 95k while buffed with SW build and my dps with TR is around 100k. I'm going to watch some more vids on the TR build - but if anyone feels like weighing in, I'd appreciate it. I just don't feel like its any better or faster to do TR. Now I haven't dropped it down in MP, but again, I feel like if I can take MP 3 at the same relative speed, why drop down and lose the bonus to exp gain, just to push through them slightly faster?
i got my hellfire ring today and its really nice for a hellfire ring. got my inna pants on a trade with a friend for some IK gloves that were crap. now, just bidding on a cheap Inna belt, and my exp gear will be good. i'm still gonna farm on mp2 rather than 3 or whatever. The exp gain from 2 to 3 isnt as significant as the amount of time it takes me to clear on MP3 compared to on MP2.
as soon as i can get my twitch feed video onto youtube i'll post my most recent runs. be gentle, it was lesser gear and resists than what i normally run with, but thought i'd do this Tempest Rush thing for paragon xp. went up two levels in about 5 hours total playtime today. i'll do a better video with the gear and the build in the morning. too tired now. lmao.
Edit: you can proby just click on the link on my sig below and check out the most recent vid. i even went and tried other mp levels, some briefly.
