Using Alkaizer's route (picking up most 63s, jewelry and certain 62s) I'm farming 40-45 million per hour it feels like. I haven't timed it properly or made any calculations but still.
Also, I found 3 legendaries yesterday and 5 today. I think it's me being ridiculously lucky but amount of elites (and mobs in general, 2 of today's were off trash) you kill has to improve your chances, too. Not that it really matters, but even if I get marginally less loot using this route due to the shorter 5-stack uptime it still seems to be worth it because I keep getting oranges.
Just did a run copying Alkaizer, he if anyone should know how to get max exp/hour. And his run turned out to be pretty good. 15M/20min, thats 45M/hour, crazy shit.
Get the last checkpoint before azmo. Then leave and resume.
1) Work back from azmo to WP
2) Go Tower of the Damned level 1 (ToD1). go right (or left) keep inner circle one lap.
3) You should have 5 stacks by know. Go Arreat crater level 2, go straight forward and never turn back to clear areas around you.
4) TP in the end and go Bridge, one circle.
5) WP to keep level 1, go back
5) TP and then go keep level 2 (here I prefer going to level 3 and go backwards)
6) here he stops, but I prefer going rakis working backwards
7) WP to arreat crater level 1, but keep running straight, not turning back.
The nice thing with this run is that he maximizes elites in the beginning and at ToD level 1. Then goeas for massive mob-kills in the other areas.
To sum up the areas wich seems to be best is arreat crater level 1-2, bridge, keep and maybe rakkis. The important thing to get as high exp/hour is to skipp swapping mf, only pick up level 63/legends and never clear the whole areas. Just quit and resume.
Nice Thundersteele that this gave you some motivation. It worked that way for me too. And I never thought my own thread would doubble my exp/hour :), thx everyone
Yeah figured the same yesterday whilst testing, that for Monk bridge and arreat 1 ( at least part of it ) seem optimal besides those zones Alkaizer used. Both have plenty of mobs and plenty of bone piles to teleport around and keep Sweeping Wind running. Guess i could test the WotF thing from OP and see if its any good.
Ok, so I've been doing another round of tests, first was a relatively full clear of A3 including Ghom, but skipping most random dungeons, and skipping the ramparts. Took me about an hour, giving 19.1m exp. I think doing Ghom is particularly bad, since after that you loose a few minutes due to some quest stuff and running out to arreats.
Then I once more did the Alkaizer route, and boom, 8.8m in 17 minutes, including gear pickups and one stupid death. First time I broke the 500k/minute or 30m/hour barrier. Still feels kinda slow, since others report 40m-45m/hour.
So I have changed up my rute a little and are now running with 320mf (5stacks). So made the rute work better for elites and also keeping the exp between 23-28M/hour.
Start with quest killing azmo.
Go to ToD level 1, and work 1 cycle.
Go to Rakkis and if you have 1-2 stacks go up and look for elites. If 3 stacks go down and work your way to bridge. These to areas I think has the highest and most pretictable elite numbers.
Then go to bridge and make one circle around the middle.
Then go to keep level 3 and work your way to level 2 and see how long you will have luck with those banelings. If you die or run to a adead end teleport to level 1 and clear level 2 from that side.
Go arreat crater and go north-east to get to the end as fast as possible, and moste mobs there.
Go arreat crater level 2 and do the same, north-east is the path
Go core of arreat and kill azmo.
This run gives me close to full inventory of level 62/63 each time and takes about 25-30min and around 10-15Mexp.
I was wondering about how you guys proceed if you get stuck somewhere. Mostly this can happen in Arreat lvl 2 and in Keep lvl 2, where you can pick the wrong patch and get to a dead end. Do you just TP and continue/end the run, or do you run back to make sure you clear the high exp area with 5 stacks?
I reliably get 30m/hour using the alkaizer route and 34% run speed, but I still would like to push a bit higher and get into the 35-40m/hour range.
Keep level 2 I start from level 3 tp and when I then die or run into dead end I tp and go to wp keep level 1 and work level 2 from that side. If I die at arreat kind of far away or run into dead end I just go to next area, doesnt run back or go to that elite for a kill just move forward.
Maybe at keep level 2 I run back to clear some since thats the best place.
To push it futher I think the loot is what takes most time, skipping rares gets you higher, but I dont think its worth it.
im having the same results as thundersteele, 19mill for act3 clear, about 8.8 mill for the alkeizer method.
i like to hear from monks with better results, but i think u need very sick dps as monk and run around with retribution aura so things die while u run.. then maybe we can match barbs. but we waste to much time on trash which slows us down so barbs just farm superfast.
the questions is, which dps is needed for submission to pown trash while u run in inferno...
i think we're just fuced as a monk to reach high farmspeeds
maybe a new build or aura that can cause trash to die really fast so u have to spend no time, and trash die while u run. its all about wasting as little time on trash
I went down 10-20k dps last week for gearing mf instead, and I think its better to get as high mf (370) as fast as possible while farming for fast exp. It almost didnt matter in speed between 90 and 70k dps, so I think you will need over 100 to go even faster.
Though a thought for fast trash killing is to get as high crit chance and attack speed as possible since that will increase your aoe with cyclones and that sweeping hit by FoT wich killes everything around you.
Another strategy would be to go with WofHT + rune for +15attack/move speed but then you need really high dps to kill fast, maybe about 150. But you get 49 in movementspeed and thats fast.
Though for me, the biggest change would come from hitting that resume game button every time I quit. Thats what counts in the long run, how much you are in the game, killing.
