I can progress in Act III, but it's a real pain, especially when I run into a group of Herald of Pestilence, and even more so when they are accompanied by a group of elites. Looking for some advice on skill build and tactics. I'm not looking at spending any substantial amount of money in the AH unless there is no other way.
My stats: 18k dps (dual weild, unbuffed), AttackSpeed - 1.8, 1000 LOH, 37k life, 700 resists (w/ OWE), 6k armor (w/ Seize the Initiative), very little or no crit chance / dmg
My Build: FOT - Thunderclap, CW - Concussion, Serenity - 4sec, Blind - 30% dmg, BOH - Fear, MoC - Overawe, OWE, Seize the Initiative, Resolve.
My tactics: Thunderclap into high priority targets, mantra spam, blind, when my life starts falling Serenity, when that is about to wear off, Fear with BOH to get some room to maneuvre, kite until serenity is off cd, repeat. If I'm facing a large pack of whites, or minions/illusions/shielding i use CW for the dmg reduction, debuff and aoe.
If I get caught in a small space, I get pwned. If I get vortexed, I get pwned. Jailer/frozen I have some time to plan, so I get semi-pwned. Waller is annoying when other things fill up my screen (monsters, arcane, desecration, etc)
I'm reluctant to switch to 1H with shield, because one of my weapons gives me 400 LOH and 150 VIT, and the other gives me 250 DEX and 100 VIT, so losing either would be a pain. I do have a shield that does have 19% block, 1400 armor, and 110 LR+AR... so I could swap out CW for Deadly Reach - Keen Eye, and then go MoH - Time of Need or MoE - Hard Target, but my dps would be pretty sad, and I like dual weilding...
Any advice on skill build or tactics that let's me keep my dual weilding?
I don't think you get any life from Sweeping Wind by Life on Hit. Maybe if you have life steal, but Life on Hit heals won't proc from Sweeping Wind (or the cyclones from Cyclone rune).
To OP: If you want to keep dualwielding, you could try using some more tankier skills. Maybe switch the aura for MoE with Hard Target. Don't switch to Deadly Reach though, since your attack speed is bit low to get even close enough healing from LoH as it is. Deadly Reach hits slower, and Fists of Thunder give more life from multiple monsters anyways.
