With Mantra and Wrath active I have the following stats :-
42.6k Health
8124 armour - without 6920
13671 Damage - without - 11888
10.50% crit hit chance
50% crit hit damage
20% block
715 all resistances
69.7% damage reduction
33% dodge
Also 12% Movement speed
I ahve been reading forums and watching videos in a effort to get a idea where I should be heading. Two major problems I seem to have noticed.
Point One - I have no LoH which is seeminging to be getting important - problem I cant afford a proper LoH weapon with crit.
Point Two - Crit Damage is really too low.... and prob need to increase crit hit chance also ?
I have 0 MF cept for the NV I farm... Gear is just too expensive to buy without losing resists or vit.
I was wondering based on my stats what I could potentially lower ? What damage do I need to be sat on as a Tank to be beating enrages in A3 and later ? Also shoud I be aiming for Crit and some more res to get over 850 ? or would 715 manage ?
One of the main pitfalls I have is my weapon carries a lot of vit Weapon Stats :-
735 DPS, 298-684 dmg range 1.50 Attacks per sec
7% AS, 251 Vit, 1699 Life after a kill and 1.67 spi regen
Losing all that Vit would drop me to 33k... I feel 40k is optimal for A3 and later ? or not ?
Any direction and pointers would be good if you could - what to aim for over all stats wise ? spec decent etc ?
i completed act 4 with 700 AR (and somewhere around 26k HP), but there were tons of deaths and stuff. i wanted to just complete the game, so efficiency wasn't a factor (farming is about efficiency, defeating the game isn't).
i had around 600 LoH (maybe a little more, closer to 700) and 21% crit (using enchantress for armor/attackspeed buff, not scoundrel). in act 4 i found myself having to play very defensively, kiting around, positioning myself in corners to avoid molten and fire chains.
i reached Diablo with a 5 stack of NV, but it's such a long fight, i lost my stack about 45 seconds before killing him (i wiped to Diablo twice before killing him). for Iskatu, i dualwielded with my old weapon and swapped to Conviction with Overawe and just spammed that in Serenity to kill him. Dual wielding i have around 30k DPS buffed, but had maybe 25k buffed with sword and board on. there's no worries about NV and swapping skills for Iskatu, since you zone in to act 4 and he's right there.
i one shot Rakanoth and Izual (both are easy fights for a monk quite honestly), and i should have killed Diablo in one try as well, but attempted to be fancy when i shouldn't have.
champion packs in act 4 can either be super easy for monks (the shadow vermin and bile crawlers are super easy, they're small but not fast), but packs of Corrupted Angels and Morlu Cleaver guys are hell to kill.
other things to consider: kill any mallet lord which is around, as well as any enslaved nightmare (their curses are awful and make you take way more damage), and the mobs that breathe fire (oppressors maybe they're called) hit very hard in melee but don't stop channelling fire if you move (at least not right away). incinerators are also pretty deadly, but their fire you can move from, and they die pretty quickly.
as far as act 3 goes: GHOM IS AWFUL. other than that the boss fights are a joke, and learn where you can place champion packs that aren't killable (invulnerable minions, molten, fire chains, x Phasebeast packs and the like). you don't need to kill all the packs you see, some are actually not going to be killable in any sort of progression oriented run (where your gear isn't tremendous and you're not farming it consistently).
basically, if you gained a bit more damage and some LoH, you could progress through act 3 and 4 after completing act 2 (zoltun kulle and belial are a joke for a monk) fairly easily if you play very cautiously and aren't afraid of dying a few times while you figure out the best ways to choke point mobs and punch behind targets with FoT.
Well I upgraded my bracers today and im sat on 751 all res now... I think I need a big weapon upgrade to somehow get my damage up. I started unlokcing the vaults for Kulle.
Wow.... I mean I dont know what happened its like all was so easy then I hit them damn smoldering constructs and bam was like mission impossible to kill em.
I am reluctant to go Duel weild as I have never tried it.... Also was reading some people swap out resolve for trancendence ? whats the main reason for this ? Trans heals you which is a good point, but aint the 25% dmaage reduction better ? Also the dmg reduction only applies to melee damage or elemental attacks also like frost attacks etc ? I read the damage reduction does not apply to floor based attacks lke poison puddles and fire etc is that right ?
i one shot Rakanoth and Izual (both are easy fights for a monk quite honestly), and i should have killed Diablo in one try as well, but attempted to be fancy when i shouldn't have.
Tell me more about how you kill Rakanoth and Izual in one single hit (each)
yes, i meant that it took me one attempt to kill Izual and Rakanoth, not that i one shot (literally hit them once and they died) them.
i only used dual wield for Iskatu, because with sword and board i would reach a point where the curse was too strong, and i couldn't heal enough and kill him. i just got up sweeping wind, dual wielding and spammed Overawe until he died. the rest of the time i was using sword and board (i'm sure there were times where dual wield might have been preferable, but not enough to make or break killing something).
i got lucky and had a 760 DPS sword with 196 dex, 73% crit damage and a socket DROP for me when i was doing an early act 3 run (keep depths to stonefort to siegebreaker). i put a 300 life on hit gem into it, and that's whats carrying my DPS (and life on hit currently) so to speak.
a weapon is pretty key to boosting your damage, since with your resists, you should survive OK. you'd want to grab some LoH, it may take some time to get some, but it's definitely worth it.
