Alright I am first off going to say that when I think of monk's and barbarians I think of tank classes. Just by looking at the monk's passive's I just considered them excellent tanks. So the purpose of my request I suppose is that I am looking for advice that doesn't involve me going to the AH and spending 50-100 million (that I really don't have) to regear my monk because now i'm suppose to gear for dps rather than survivability.
Second no I do not want to build a monk which to me is a tank class to be forced to kite like i'm some ranged class. I think that is a bloody stupid concept and extremely boring style of play. I made the monk cause imma be honest, I love being in a group of mobs and loling because they can't do damage to me or rather enough damage to kill me easily. Now before people jump all over this, I understand I will still need to do basic kiting. IE: Standing in Desecrate, plagued, and molten is just not realistic, i also understand the need to dodge arcane enchanted. These are acceptable means of "kiting" I don't consider this kiting I just consider this gtfo of unnecessary damage. MMO 101 basics.
Now I know that some of the people who have read this far are already boiling over with a rage response thinking something along the lines of "OP is fail" or "Than you are stuck in act 2" yadda yadda. Honestly you can just move onto the next post because I get it, you think you are better than everyone and its your way or the high way. Frankly I won't respond to people who post these nasty posts cause its not worth it.
Anyway so uh on to the actual guidance. Here are what I have for current stats,
Dexterity: 1278
Vitality: 1281
Armor: 4001
Armor: w/ shield 5197
Damage: 12,703
Damage w/ shield: 10,856
Resistances: 716
Resistances w/ Shield: 760
Life on Hit: 1457
Life on Hit w/ shield: 786
APS: 1.61
APS w/ shield: 1.4
Life: 48,720
Life w/ shield: 49,100
Life Steal: 3%
Dodge: 42.9%
Dodge w/ shield: 32.8%
Crit/Crit Damage are at base cause I figure I was a tank not a dps.
In act 2 my basic skills are as follows:(Sorry won't let me post a URL so I have to do it this way)
Fist of Thunder: Thunderclap Edit: (I will switch this with Deadly Reach: Keen Eye when really struggling)
Blinding Flash: Faith in the Light
Breath of Heaven: Blazing Wrath
Sweeping Wind: Blade Storm
Serenity: Ascension
Manra of Conviction: Overawe
Passives: The Guardian's Path, One With Everything, Seize the Initiative. (I switch The Guardian's Path with Resolve when sword and boarding).
In act 3 I try to use the above and it works for the most part but without my brother's (barb) buff I die and even with his buff some groups are just impossible and most groups are extremely difficult (IE: We die /a lot/)
When I am soloing I will switch into using a shield with mantra of healing + time of need instead of conviction.
Problem is, Act 3 is almost impossible for me. Ghom is definitely impossible with him having almost 9million health and the moronic amount of damage he does and the fact that even kiting him he tends to throw his poison in the direction i'm kiting so I almost never actually get to hit him and eventually the room fills up with poison.
So I guess my question is and I know I said I hated it earlier but, am I honestly forced to completely regear and get crit/crit damage or is there a way to make my current gear work?

"Sad events, unreasonable pain, and unchangeable fate. I hated those, and I didn't want to allow them. So I wanted the power to break through them. I chose this path. And I chose the path of sharing my skills and power with those kids who felt the same way. Magic like this is there to protect what means most to you. A power I need to make my wishes come true." - Nanoha Takamachi.
Since I believe you understand what you enjoy and how you'd like to play I won't go suggesting you abandon your approach. It is important to note that you have taken the path that pretty much every monk has chosen (skills/gearing). What it seems like is that your seeing the final curve of difficulty and the time investment is steep (time investment can be viewed also as 'time it takes to practice and/or find or sell gear to acquire your goals').
Ghom and act 3 are doable, but they might take alot of deaths and practice to get comfortable and even then you will still die. Not until you've put alot of time into getting the best gear will you get to a 'laugh in the face of mobs' point.
As far as advice:
If you are a tank, unless you have a partner, you still need to kill stuff! Damage isn't bad! The longer it takes to kill things, the higher the chance for a string of damage to kill you until you reach higher defence.
Your armor is low. This can be partially helped with using Mantra of evasion/hard target. Of course this comes with a reduction of damage. Mantra of evasion+active as far as I know is more EHP than your current mantra.
Resolve is better than guardian's path for damage reduction and although dodge is great it has some RNG.
Yeah I mean I wasn't trying to suggest damage was bad I just don't know exactly how to get it without sacrificing one stat or another. I have two 780 dps weapons which have around 650 loh (on both). I know these are lower dps weapons but again I lack the gold income to go buying 980 dps weapons with similar loh. I do use evasion + hard target in act 2 (towards the end I need it for mobs that simply hit too hard)
I would love to be able to run with another. I know that when I run with my bro (the barb) I take next to no damage in act 3 certain mob affix's still suck but thats just normal. But me and my brother both have low dps, we bring in our wizard friend with 43k dps but the 400% health jump that mobs are getting is too much for him to dps solo. Not to mention the fact that 9 times out of 10 the mobs seem to ignore me and the barb and run towards the wizard forcing him to kite and lose a ton of his dps potential.
I will attempt to raise my dps. I found a few items today that from all that I can tell might sell for 500k+ I hope they will so maybe I can buy some nice 1k+ dps weapons. Thanks JoeDiablo for the response and Aion I appreciate the post you made but it would cost me 50mil to regear into crit/crit damage (If I get lucky on a few items and Luck and me, we have 1 relationship. Bad). Plus the simple fact that if you play like most people who stack crit/crit damage thats not the play style I want to play. I don't want to kite on a melee character that is just silly.

I believe you should look beyond weapons for dps upgrades, or search for similar weapons with the different stats (dex, socket, crit damage).
You can get piles of damage from dexterity, crit, crit damage and attack speed. A more affordable way to find things is to look for things with higher of one stat and low/none of another that you'd like, and buy the opposite on another piece of gear.
For example: one ring with dex, crit, your chosen resist. Other ring with vitality, crit, chosen resist (likely even all resist too on this one).
Finding items with a few stats is often much cheaper than trying to get all at once, leave that for later.
Buying on a budget can take alot of time and effort to find good prices. Just try switching up your searches for different combinations, you never know what might pop up for sale.
