I was just about to farm for gold/gear when I heard that the 1.03 patch would nerf IAS, so I decided to hold off.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to how gear stats should be prioritized relative to this guide post 1.03?
I was also using this video as a general reference, and he states that post 1.03 IAS will still be one of the most useful stats.
He also says that in acts III/IV these are a general stat minimum:
resist all: 750+
armor: 6k+ (no enchantress)
dps: 24k+ (aim for 31k+)
health: 22k+ (probably more like 27k+)
Also, I've been using seven-sided-strike with the stun rune and it works amazing for me (given I'm undergeared) when trying to avoid hard hitting attacks and stunlocking enemies. Is sweeping wind worth it even if I'm undergeared?
FoT stun on third hit also feels necessary to me even though most guides I've read state that DR is better if you're undergeared for the reach. Can anyone comment on this?
Ghom in particular is insane right now with clouds forming and lasting for minutes at a time. Even if you kite near perfect you'll be in trouble and the DPS requirement seems to be 25-30k or more. They wrecked their game, it's not even fun anymore.
Sweeping Wind is invaluable when you are undergeared, because you need to kill things faster.
Everything other than HP seems fine. However doable with 27k HP, something along the lines of 30k+ HP should grant extra survivability, and that counts a whole lot more now, since repair costs are through the roof.

What's wrecked about that? You can treat acts in Diablo similar to tiers of content in WoW. Could you have beaten Spine or Madness with T11 gear from Cho'gall and Nefarian? No, you had to run some heroics and LFRs (farm!) and once u acquired enough current tier gear you could have killed the boss without hitting enrage.
There should be no surprises, that's Blizz approach to game design.
Even if we looked at each act as a 'Tier' from the wow stand point, this is not how it works. The current model (and you should take a look at your items now that the item level is shown), is that you 'need' what be your idea of tiers as Tier 3 to do tier 2, and 2 for tier 1, ect. You can't expect players to get higher items when you can't obtain them.
Perspective point here. While the nerf to IAS is harsh, monks still need lots of defensive stats. They gave us better chances to upgrade our gear (although in the wrong way IMO), they kind of gave us @#$@# in the other hand. Yes we can upgrade our gear but we don't have the money for it. The cost to repair now is border line making people go to the loony bin (my self included). when you run a full act 1 in ilevel 62 gear and not die once but have 35-40k repairs.... yeah.....
Back to the main point of comparing the inferno acts to wow. Even if there was farming in wow, they didn't make you have to spend literally days of play time to progress to the next tier, it was much quicker, and the transition was a hell of a lot smoother. Bad game to compare this one to.
The problem is that Blizzards "design" has put Monks in a very bad situation DPS-wise. We don't get a lot of dps from our gear and we're forced into defensive stats for progress. So we pool tons of money into getting defensive gear to get through act 3, but then we hit a brick wall with Ghoms enrage timer. Oh lord, that tank gear is now useless! Go spend more millions on DPS gear instead for just that one boss. That is wrecked.
Actually, every class is in the same position now (except a few WD's). Wizard's dps is low because they have to kite like thier life depended on it. Barbs have to stack so many tanking stats that their dps dose not reach very high. DH's just had a huge hit with IAS and the nerf they slipped in to NT. Monk's are not the only class having a hard time with DPS while building tanking stats.
