I agree with crippling wave but am still deciding between the way of the hundred fists and fist of thunder. Crippling wave seems best for me because often in diablo you can and will be surrounded and it is the only one that does damage to enemies all around, not just infront. I know fist of thunder says it is the fastest generator, but i don't really believe that just because of the description of way of the hundred fists. A rapid series of punchs sounds pretty fast, so I am going to figure that out once I have a chance to try them out.
I can honestly say that I have made builds with all the generators. This is probably why the monk is going to be the first class I play. There are just so many fun things you can do with his abilities, and I can see situations where each generator has its place. My favorite has to be Exploding Palm though, for obvious reasons imo.
Im going to be going exploding palm for sure. Im not too sure what kind of Exploding Palm combos I want though, but ive narrowed it down to 2 to try out and see which I like best.

My aoe Exploding palm build, with EP using a indigo rune for the aoe dot spread and Crippling Wave with the alabaster rune giving it the 15% dmg buff. This build would allow me to bring a group down to low health with Crippling Wave and then finish them off with aoe Exploding Palm dot. This one is definitely my favourite looking build so far.

My single target Exploding Palm build, with EP using a Crimson rune which extends the dot to 7 seconds and Way of a Hundred Fists using a Alabaster rune giving it a frontal cone. This build allows me to apply multiple EP dots and then finish them off with WOHF causing a chain explosion of the EP dots. In theory I can see this build being very efficient, could even swap out WOHF Alabaster to a Crimson and just jump around doting groups/single targets.
Either way they both look like hella fun builds and im looking forward to trying them out.
I think having Deadly Reach and Crippling Wave would be a good combination. The reach for farther monsters (in conjunction with lashing tail kick) and CW for when you get surrounded. I don't have a beta key so idk how many generators is too many generators. If I had to add a third I'd probably say Exploding Palm for bosses/elites.
Im gonna senter around being a tanky monk, and i found some nice skill runes on some of the generators. therefore in on of my builds i will use deadly reach with keen eye and sweeping wind with inner storm. I chose these two because keen eye gives 50% more armor and and inner storm gives an insane amount of spirit reg, when the vortex is maxed out.
Though if i find out im not going tank i will use exploding palm and way of the hundred fists, they just look awsome xD
but for the moment i feel monk is tanky and benefits alot from tankyness, plus i like to tank so, unless i change my mind i will be tank ^^

I think I would be going with both of these generators:
1) Deadly Reach : sniping and picking away at mobs from far is just win.
2) Crippling Wave: Good AOE, and with the proper runes, can provide buffs and debuffs as needed.
