I was just wondering what everyone out there had picked out for there monk. personaly im going to go two hander but i would like to hear what everyone else is going to use just say what you are going to use and why
well i enjoy the look in both cases so...although as much as i like the looks - i will just take the better setup even if it's a shield and a sword or a spear and a dagger or a 2h polearm. tho sadly...if u want to see imba animation for the weapons u need to use auto attack cuz every other attack doesn't have an animation. and cuz of the new rune system u can't have a button for auto attack so u just have to press on a spirit spender while u don't have spirit so u can see the animation :(.
I like the fast attack speed of 2 one handed weapons for the monk. You get the combos out so much faster even if you don't quite hit as hard. It will also be somewhat build dependent due to at least one passive changing what it does based on what weapon you use.
For my Demon Hunter I prefer a hand crossbow and a quiver. 2 handed weapons are abit too slow and you lose DPS (but gain resource generation) when dual wielding. I think 1 one hander and a quiver is a nice middle ground.
For barb.. I dunno, he is mighty and swinging a massive item is just fun. I think that will depend on drops.
It really depends on what gear you have, to be honest.
If you want more defense, go for Dual-wielding... Or else go 2h for more spirit-gen.
For me, I'll probably go 2h staff, because 2h staff wield more damage for massive nukes like Wave of Light (please correct me if I am wrong).
Actually you get more spirit gen with 2 one handers due to the faster attack speed. More attacks = more spirit generated. If you want more spirit with 2handers you have to use a passive.
I'm sure they'll balance them so 2 handed and dual wield are equally effective. Personally I think staffs are badass, so I'm hoping to find/craft some great daibos, but I'll most likely use the most powerful weapon I can find, regardless of type.

Yeah, when I mentioned 2h'ers for spirit gen, I mean with the "Guardian's Path" passive, my bad for not clarifying.
I assume there should be multiple items with IAS stats that you should be able to stack, which should negate the slow attack-speed of the 2h staves.
Hooba should take another avatar, i keep confusing you with AFd3 ;(
I've had the avatar since 2008 so I'm not changing it!
I naively told myself I was going to be using a sword and shield a while back but now I think it wont be so simple. I'll wait to see what I can find and balance that out which what goes best with build I like playing best and find a compromise. They both have their ups and downs how your weapons fit into the big picture of my character will be the deciding factor. On the other hand I could see people finding items they really like and conforming their chars' build to support the weapons. Example: If you really like the monk because of the throwback to hellfire then I could see you forcing staves and diabo to work.
tho on a more positive note....MONK FTW!!!!!
hopefully i will see u in game - best regards,
Arrok
