Is it just me or do the monk weapons don't seem to buff your attack by much... it's always below what I see the other classes holding, except maybe the Wizard?
I'm curious as to whether or not 2h weapons will be viable for monks in the latter difficulties. I do like the dodge bonus of my passive for dual wielding, though.
Don't get me wrong I like the idea of dual wielding, and if I obtain 2 very indispensable weapons I will consider it but I doubt I will. 1 good weapon is hard enough to find being that I have always been very picky about weapon stats. I will also only have to enhance 1 weapon at the mystic for attack speed.
Keeping the monk alive in inferno without a shield might also prove to be more of a frustration than a challenge. In addition I plan to socket most if not all of my armor including shield with rubies to gain a massive attack rating and to get the most out of 'seize the initiative' passive'. Seize the initiative is the best monk passive IMO. You can place focus on attack and increase your defense as a result.
Also, I really like the evasion mantra and considering how stats like evasion stack it is probably better to forget about 'the guardian's path' dodge boost and add a whole new stat-buff to your character, chance to block. 'The guardian's path' has a 10% dodge buff but you won't end up gaining 10% on your dodge chance it will be less because of the mathematics of adding these types of buffs. As with a shield, you receive the full block% and armor. In addition I like mantra of evasion with an obsidian rune 'hard target', the increase armor buff should combine nicely with a shield.
I don't want to discourage you dual wielders but I'm old school, I like the sword and shield. However, if I were to come across the Shenlong's Defense set that only has the two fist weapons, all I'd have to do switch the 'guiding light' for the 'guardian's path' passive skill and I'd be dual wielding.

I personally will duel wield. In my build i do have hard target to make up for that extra armor a should would give me. Using a two handed weapon or shield and sword dose certainly have its place . I though about using a sword and shield but have come to the conclusion id like duel wielding better.
You mentioned seize the initiative and gemming for attack. I will be doing something close. Im going after crit and using the sixth sense passive for the dodge to all so help with my lack of a shield. I have to say tho, your build looks pretty solid.
Can't Barbarians dual wield too? The monk seems just like a weaker Barb... correct me if i'm wrong here.
I wouldn't say a weaker barb! Have you looked closely at Wave of Light? Probably the highest dmg spell in the game! Plus the monk has so many options of play style. I think the Monk will eventually become the new Pally; as in everyone will have one because their so amazing

Don't knock the 20% spirit extra regen. I did some math for it. Basically it makes a Daibo generate the same spirit per attack 2 1h. Slower attacks = less spirit per sec but with 20% it's the same, however... Take a look around at the other passives and mechanics that generate spirit for you now add 20% to them as well. I have a feeling the 2h will out DPS a duel wield but they sacrifice things in other regards like having a slow attack speed.

How do the monk 2h weapons compare to duel wielding / sword &board.
In theory duel wielding produces more APS thus more spirit, however there are ways a 2h monk can get around this drawback using a passive. The overall DPS without taking spirit into account should not change much.
Think of a DH using a crossbow instead of 2 hand crossbows. The DPS should average out.

From the videos i have watched people playing monk there been dual wielding club , sword both yellow quality of course.
I would say when the full game comes out there will be some very good monk fists with good dps. at the moment from what i can see there is only blue level avaible in the beta.
I can't understand the mechanics of "hit". If my monk is dual wielding and I push "Sweeping Wind" the first hit lands with two weapons? main hand + off hand = 1 hit?
Well after watching so many Monk gameplay videos on YouTube (sadly I do not have a beta invite to try the Monk out myself, yet...), I still feel that the whole idea of Monks being able to wield weapons are a little weird. I hope D3 would change my perception when I get to play my first Monk character though. I don't know, I just feel that monks should just have super powerful punches and kicks and stances, and no weapons - it would make them very unique this way, totally different from the other classes and paths. Just my two cents worth.
