I think the male monk looks totally bad ass. The frown on his face together with the beard makes me think of an angry, cool Slav. The bald head informs me that he's a monk. I mean, Shaolin monks are bald, aren't they?
For one, no, monks do not all shave their facial hairs, many sport beards.
Especially the elders.
However there is one thing I do believe, is that the 3D rendition on the
character page of the male monk is way too skinny. He looks like he's getting atrophy in his shoulders and biceps.
From experience I've seen many Shaolin monks here in China, and they have much bulkier arms from weapon training.
 Give the poor bastard a chance, he looks like he's going to turn into
a necro if he gets any skinnier.

You are correct, sir! I was about to say this but you beat me to it
Looks alright to me. And yeah the beard makes him experienced and not a noob
But if they bulked his arms out initially he would be slower right? And Blizzard is going for an insanely fast character, so their appears monk to fit and look correct. A 'real world' one probably wouldn't so much.
And as Shatterer said...
Fair play though, give the lad a chance
Cheers

"So you have come here for information? I have some for you..."
I agree with mattheo_majik about the Monk's looks. Could be a bit more bulkier; however, the Monk that is represented in Diablo 3 appears to be old enough to be my grandfather, so perhaps the "thinner" look could be justified.
Personally, and out of sheer nerd-rage daydreaming, my vision of a badass monk would be somewhere around Akuma plus Vegeta, wandering the landscape brutally eviscerating and annihilating the demonic and undead while thanking and praising whatever deity allowed him the power to make an instant autopsy out of his target just by trying to flag down a New Jersey taxi.

Avast ye! Scyberdragon be te thank for the sig, arr!
To OP:
Could you give us the standards for what is badass in your eyes? How would you have made him more badass? With hair on his head?
I must admit though- you gave me a good laugh with that post.
(no sarcasm meant!)
Well first off why two dots on his head... one would do, i believe it is suppose to represent your third eye not 3rd and 4th. The Monk also looks a little shriveled, he needs to be bulkier, more muscles, because if anyone should be ripped, its the monk. And last but not least his beard looks red.... why a red beard? they should make it a different color like black brown Grey or white.

I'm sure they put two dots instead of one to distinguish him from true life monks, after all this is a game and not true life. He looks no where near "shriveled," he is ripped. Look at some of his artwork pics, you can see the strings of his muscles in his shoulders. Monks don't need to be swole, they are agile and lean. His beard is brown, not red. You can see this better from his cinematic movie.

You are right.
The monk's arms are skinny as hell in the 3D rendering. Even mine are thicker, no joke.
Mine are... about half that, if I take in to consideration his position and how far away we're viewing him. I think it's a more mature step than we've seen in video games of the last two decades (1990~2010). No more muscle-bound freaks.

Btw a badass monk... how would you do that without ruining the whole purification/templebody thing.
Men must have hair coming out from every single place in his body. Thats a manhood law.
Edit: the only exception is if he can summon undeads. If a man can summon undead his man enough even without hair.
Sorry for the disappointment but the monk will be in diablo 3 !!

Looks fine to me.
Agreed.
And now i think he would be cooler without the beard too lol... however the beard is nice !

"It's not always the strongest fighter that wins the battle."
Or, as is the case in this thread, strongest looking. So yeah, what the hamster said.
