I just got my 6/6 set last night while trying to farm for a RoRG. 10 caches later, still nothing.. but Kadala blessed me with my Marauder chestpiece.. so, not a total loss.
I know that not every piece of gear is optimally rolled, I need a new Bow, RoRG/Unity, Rucksack, TnT and a Hellfire amulet that doesn't suck (got 1 already, it was bad). What should I shoot for in terms of attack speeds vs crits, paragon points, etc.
Basically, I do not understand how the whole BP system works. I've tried looking at posts, sheets, and calculators.. but it's just not clicking.
In terms of gambling I'd probably shoot for Rucksack, then TnT. That will probably keep you occupied for a while. Keep farming RORG. Until you get taskers, an easy option to gain some more toughness if you need it is Aughilds shoulders/bracers (with RORG).
BP system is simple. Without TnT, your characters APS = sentry APS, shown on your char sheet. When that APS falls within a certain range, the sentry will attack at a single attack speed. For example,
So when that APS value falls between 1.45946 and 1.74193, the sentry will attack at a 1.66666 rate. No matter if you are at 1.46, 1.55, 1.64, 1.74, the sentry will attack at 1.66666. So any attack speed above the bare minimum of the range (AKA, the breakpoint) is worthless to the sentries. You want to aim for the highest of the minimums of those ranges that you can reach, and not go over.
Thanks for the explanation.. I'll have to look at my char sheet when I get a chance and mess around with Paragon Points to see where I can get it at.
Also keep in mind that the character sheet may have some rounding error - I don't know exactly how it rounds, but for example if you were to get 1.46 APS on the sheet, perhaps it is actually 1.458 and is rounding up for display. Which would make it appear that you are over the BP, when you are not.
Unless you want to actually calculate it out yourself (I'm too lazy to do this personally, though it is not complex), I would suggest going an extra point over to ensure you are hitting it. So for this example, 1.47. Which would ensure that, assuming they do normal rounding, you are at minimum 1.46500 APS. There will be some loss in (most likely) paragon points in doing this, but not much.
Ya.. I got a new 20% AS Quiver last night (still not Rucksack...) and I used Paragon to sit myself at 1.76 ... just in case.
Another question... how does +Ele Arrow, MS, CA work vs just having +sentry dmg? I assume that those specific abilities coming off the Sentry are amplified, but if you have +Sentry dmg, all abilities are amplified?

Yep exactly right. You'd obviously want sentry damage on everything if it were possible, but it's not as certain slots can only have the individual hatred spender skills. So, next best thing.

Thanks much!
