So, I've been trying to get a full set of mrauders on my fresh season DH, and I've hit a brick wall. I got 3 pieces by paragon 20, 4th at paragon 60, and now I'm paragon 150, and convinced it's just not going to happen. 7000 Blood shards spent on legs & boots with no luck. I;ve also been running with 4 DHs on everything who were willing to give up legs/boots for me. Needless to say, I'm still sitting on 4 pieces + a rorg.
So the question is: What's a good build pre-marauders? I have access to all of the quivers, all of the bows and every set except Marauders. I have all flavors of SOJ and all around pretty good gear - just not sure what's strong. I've been trying to test things out, but overall I haven't found anything that stands above the rest. Is there a strong non-sentry build on DH?
Depth Diggers for the bonus damage to primary skills
Leonine Bow of the Hashir for pulling the bola'd mobs together for splash damage
Emeimei's Duffel for instant bola explosion
Basically, bola all trash mobs while using CtW/polar station for added dps. Hit everything with MfD Contagion so it'll spread around and make your slightly weak attacks hit harder. Use Impale on bosses.
I don't like the chunky playstyle of CA without resource reduction, and now that prep has a CD it's not really viable.
I'm running a melee strafe build, and surprisingly enough it has brought me up to torment with no effort.
I'm looking for enaching this build and push myself up o the limito to see if it's viable for endgame or not (well, i already know that it's hard to compete with Mara6, but if i manage to get to GR30+ i'll be more than satisfied).
You use steady aim in a game where every little minion rushes your face, 3 discipline spenders without any discipline generators, and Impale instead of something AoE?

Cluster Grenades as your basic gives you super aoe, all generators are shit tbh for DH if you don't have Krider
You need at least one defensive, doesn't matter how good you/your gear are, everyone gets caught out eventually. Ambush sucks in higher levels because mobs have so much HP that most of the fight is sub 75% so it's a waste, Blood Vengeance sucks ass (Reapers Wraps/Hellfire ammy if you need it noob) Cull of the weak is the go-to talent with mara 6pc, but it sucks before then since we don't really use slows or cold skills if we can avoid it
I got an early Danetta's set which just made that build insanely fun. Now I have my 6pc Marauders around 115ish paragon. Good luck to the rest of the DHs trying to finish their set!
Also try and use the Pain Enchancer early on it does a nice amount of damage at lower torment levels.

Here's a link. Must be said: there can be a number of different variations depending on the element you choose; it also requires some specific gear to be effective. I'm not going to write a guide here on dfans until i have gathered the needed items and i tried extensively the build; though it seems good enough to make me run T3 comfortably
That build looks like a blast! I think I'll try that on my alt DH, I made a second because of all the gear I was accumulating after the mara6 set was done. And lets face it, mara6 is kinda passive, this looks like its really fun. Should easily do T3. Biggest challenge to using mara6 is to NOT get in the middle of everything, which is exactly how you play if you don't HAVE the mara6 yet...
I think I'll stay with the wolf and load garwulf's maybe, make up hatred regen elsewhere on gear, will have to look, have like 4 cloaks set aside.
Small update: i managed to get a couple of needed items (though one has ben changed a little and i didn't know). I can easily run T3 and managed to clear GR 23 with a couple of small tweak to the build.
Must be said, true effectiveness will require at least 1 legendary gem, and i also have found the other 2 optimal ones; i'm running with two of them so the build now is permorming slightly better due to this. I can try once i can farm consistently T6 to get no socketed items and simulate a no legendary gems environment.
Also, the synergy between some abilities is greater than expected. Hope to find the missing items i need. Anyway, it's starting to get tricky since i take a lot of damage - i don't have optimized gear for sure and i also have some options that gets me additional cc/survivabilty that can be proven more effective. A lot of tests to run anyway.

gear: high toughness and healing. I could clear up to t5 with this setup, but t6 everything takes years to kill.

This is what I suggest pre - M6
Entangling - 6 Hatred + Cull of the Weak (20% DMG Buff)
CA - Loaded for Bear (Big Hitter)
Punishment - Instant Hatred Regen
Mark of Death Contagion - 20% Increase damage
Vengeance - Pew Pew Elite Packs with hatred regen
Wolf - 30% Increase Damage Proc
Passives: Ambush, Archery, Cull of the Weak, Blood Vengeance
