DHs being multiple Greater Rift levels above other classes is being regarded as a "slight problem". To the devs, the issue isn't just their damage but their sustain, how they can avoid most damage and that their Sentries can't die.
Its likely they will bring sentry in line with the rest of the pet and give them life bars and aggro. Right now its just DH fighting off screen and sentry that spam ability that would otherwise not be spammed because no other class (DH included) would have the ressources to spam so many spells. Thats just the substained part of the problem. The other problem is really just the damage of mobs and melee classes, i think they need to go back to the drawing board with the damage scaling, even crusader with 3 life cant fight when they get one shot each of them.
So easy fix that should have happening on PTR to begin with. Since sentry takes every benefit of being pets, they should just be pets to begin with. Give them the aggro, which in some case helps and give them HP and resistance based on the hero like every other pets. Reduce the damage scaling to help melee and at the same time it helps pets anyway.
Beside, they need to buff the other classes NOT nerfed any thing fun. DH is actually play like a range class.
Barb is plays like a range class, just leap. So stupid. Monk is play like a range class, just move away and dash. Wiz play like a melee class, get WOH and blast everyone close range. Ridiculous.

John: The other sets are useless if you want to be the strongest Demon Hunter and clear the highest Greater Rift… absolutely right. The problem isn’t with M6 itself… a lot of DHs including myself think there is a lot of strategy and gameplay nuances with placing your sentries correctly, balancing your resources, etc. The real problem is that there aren’t viable other options. And that’s really where we’re trying to go.
Examples: We’ve talked about designs for 6 piece bonuses for all the vanilla class sets. None of which are top tier. Inna’s, IK, Natalya’s, etc. We have solid plans for adding 6 piece bonuses for all those sets that would bring them to the power level of M6 or Jade Harvester or LeapQuake or whatever.
They would then be a build of their own. For example, the Nat’s 6 piece bonus is something like, Every time you cast a generator or spender, you reduce the cooldown of your Rain of Vengeance by… 10 seconds. Something like that. The idea is to be a different kind of build. Wyatt’s going crazy because that’s way too powerful… *laughter* Some number that makes a different build by bringing up the power level. And that’s really the idea we’re going for. Adding new things and not nerfing existing things.
We have a bar now. We have Greater Rifts. We see every class on top of the leader boards and their build… so now we want to bring the other builds up to there by adding new items and synergizing existing items.

That's really good to hear. As soon as they fixed the bug with sentries and 3 spenders i'm having a lot more fun with my Demon Hunter than pre patch, expecially since i'm using a Krinder without killing the turret dps but i admit Mara6 is waaaaaaaay too strong compared to any other Demon Hunter build and set and the gameplay, if going for a 2handed crossbow, is too passive and safe.
Will i scream if Mara6 is nerfed? Not really, if there will be other buffs to the class to compensate and not pidgeonhole us into a single set, but i'm glad to hear developers are thinking to improve other legendaries to get on par to Marauder instead of nuking it to the ground.... And we all know how Blizzard can nuke things into oblivion if considered overpowered.
I think DHs can take some solace in the fact that Blizz probably doesn't want to implement a substantial nerf when seasons have already gone live in Asia, and will go live in Europe any moment now. In the second era, though, I'd be surprised if some type of "balancing" doesn't occur.
Wonder why people care, it's not like solo leaderboards have all the classes mixed up. It's solo DH / WD etc. I'm only competing with other DHs so why would i care that a WD is stronger?
I'm ignoring party leaderboards on purpose btw because IMO they shouldn't even exist in a game like diablo.
Ignoring the leaderbaord fact for a second, right now if you want to get your gem to level 45, you basically are forced into playing DH, or to get carried by 3 DHs in 4p. It can be frustrating for those who want to compete, but are always going to be behind.
I love my DH but i do agree a fair balance would be to add a health bar on sentries and have them killable. I dont think they should nerf the damage though, the damage isnt that off balance.

The CD is 6 seconds, if you have no CDR, at 6s CD, the max you can have is 3 sentries.

If a sentry has about the same survivability as a zombie dog, then I'd say it's a lot more balanced than it is right now. Reddit has a thread (http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/2ewshs/top_100_leaderboardworthy_passives_skills/) showing the average DH in top 100 is 5 grifts ahead of other classes.
