Once i hit a lvl34 grift im gonna be oneshotted either way. Id much rather have dodge than armor with the changes coming in 2.1. Hard to believe we asked for this
Enemy damage scaling with GRift level should cap out lower than it currently does (at a bit better than T6 levels) such that choosing to itemize survival actually does something. HP scaling should be a little bit shallower so that choosing to be less squishy doesn't mean you're screwed out of climbing the ladder.
In many ways, yes it is. I've said it since the beginning, DHs don't need it and monks, although harder to gear will be tankier with the current live setup.
tbh i think should have both, armor buff was needed but i think we should still have dodge dh still feal like wet paper at times , like if you get jailer mob 1 shot at times is no fun tbh

Pretty sure any mob in GRift 30+ 1-shots you to CD. Armor>Dodge is the way to go atm, but there needs to be a way for us to fall back to that old mechanic like Monks are getting.
The problem with dodge is simple: it's not reliable.
Being it a hit/miss roll, you cannot have a class that is based on how lucky you roll the dodges to proceed through GR levels. DEX to armor makes our survivability more streamlined - all classes suffer the same issues once they hit high GR levels and that's why Awareness becomes mandatory for GR 30+.
It's awesome when you get that dodge that saves your a**, but it makes you angry when you don't dodge anything for a while and take way more damage than other classes due to less armor.
Armor is less reliable in grifts, the only thing hitting us is ranged bs we cant avoid/mitigate.
So is dodge. Dodging a hit means talking 0 damage, but it's a random occurrence - you could have a lucky streak or a bad streak changing drastically the chances of success of a run.
I don't think you want your GR progress be based on a dice roll
"At least i can survive a Jailer on Gr40 with unity and the armor buff and recover (templar heal/pot/etc) if it was dodge i'd be 1shot half the time. Then i'd have to run back and fail the rift."
How do you handle chain jailing and when theirs comes off cd, run off the screen? They have too many hp's to nuke them down in time where you only get 1 and your potion and merc will be on cooldown.
I dont play the ptr, got to g31, had too much fun and uninstalled. Can you tell me how the damage over time gem combined with lots of loh works against jailer?
I was saying at higher lvls, armor wont provide any mitigation either. Its great for people who stand in stuff on t4 but wont help much later in the game. Im not worried about white mobs since they are no threat to ranged class, im looking at unavoidable damage.
@nat, I noticed you were trying funky builds and not doing alot of big crits for the crowd control. Im wondering how the gem would work with the fire spec using the gem as a crutch combined with the increased loh.
@dez Dh m6 brings sustained damage while the others are nuke. I have a wd jade and its night and day vs my dh on 4ppl t6, but thats because i can almost one shot them all with the current scaling. In the grifts, the cd on the wd will lead to less dps and they risk getting close, the same prob with a crusader. Pet docs will easily surpass the jades at 32+ with the reduced collistion detection and 23 fetishes+big dog. They also give a meat shield, making them like a dh where they just have to watch for ts/jail/pulse/etc.
-If you dont understand mathematics, you think dodge is better.
-If you dont understand the mechanics of the monsters affix, you think dodge is better.
The End.
Ehhh that depends heavily on how much dodge you had and how much DR you're gaining.
What you should be saying is "Dodge is better except when it's not"
And in this game, its not.
It's fine against anything that's not undodgeable. Too bad they made everything use undodgeable attacks as their main DPS. They shoulda just fixed taht issue.
