So we all know M6 is pretty much the only choice for DH when it comes to end-game for DHs. After a lot of testing with different physical, fire, and even poison builds, this is the build I’ve found was the most optimal in terms of damage output, survivability, and mobility. You can check out this video to see it in action rift clearing in 5:40 min http://youtu.be/31PikYATQHA
I call this “The Wall” (from GoT), due to its impenetrable defenses and hard hitting Sentries.
Gear
Let’s start off with gear since this is an end-game build and heavily gear dependent. There’s obviously a lot of variations of gear possible, but I’m going to give you the stats on items that I found to be most optimal and that I’m currently using/on my wishlist.
Sentries damage % is THE MOST important stat on any M6 DH build. It gives a HUGE damage boost to the main source of your damage output. 45% sentries (or near) damage should be mandatory (15% on Bombadier’s Rucksack). I feel like the rest is pretty self explanatory.
I will briefly talk about TNT though, as some seem to prefer Magefist over this. We can go into details about the theoretical damage boost from the additional 20% fire vs 50% pet attack speed and its effects on the sentries’ hatred spenders etc. But long story short, after a lot of practical testing the extra MS fired in each sentry cycle with TNT is just too valuable as we will see later in skills section. MS is so valuable in fact that you could swap out CA% with MS% on your gear and will probably end up with a higher DPS output overall. The reason I’ve stuck with CA is to make up for the lack in burst damage.
Reaper’s Wraps – Fire% + Dex + Vit + CC
Best Amulet you can get your hands on with – Fire% + Dex + CC + CHD
Stone of Jordan – Fire% + Dex + CC + Elite%
RoRG – Dex + Vit + CC + CHD
Bombardier’s Rucksack – Dex + Vit + Attack Speed + CC + Sentry%
Harrington’s Waistguard – Dex + Vit + AR + Life%
Reaper’s Wraps will be the primary and only hatred generator for this build. Harrington’s Waistguard is a must as it adds A LOT of toughness AND potentially DOUBLE your damage output on given maps.
Chanon Bolter – Highest DPS possible with Dex + Socket
Last but not least, this 2H crossbow is central to our build. Using Spike traps, we are going to be able to clump up enemies for easy kills (basically Blackhole with no cooldown!)
Skills
Vault – Action shot/Rattling Roll
Companion – Any
MS – Arsenal
CA – LFB
Sentry – Spitfire
Spike Trap – Long Fuse
Passives
Tactical Advantage
Steady Aim
Archery
Ballistics – going to double the rocket damage from MS and turrets. Great synergy with TNT as TNT effectively doubles the number of rockets fired from MS, and increases Spitfire Turret rockets by 50%.
Paragon
Core – Hatred > Mov. Speed > Vit
Offence – CDR > CDH > CC > AS
Defense – AR > Life > Armor > Regen
Utility – RR > Area dmg > LOH > Gold Find
Gameplay
With no hatred generators, resource management is quite crucial. Sentry and Spike Trap are going to be our two most used skills which is why I have them on LC and RC respectively.
With Chanon Bolter, Spike Traps become one of the most OP skills in the game – Defensively AND Offensively. Huge wave of enemies charging at you? Put a line of 3 spike traps in front of you to stop them in their tracks. Spike Traps also allow our sentries to be used most efficiently. Because Sentries are AIs, their efficiency is greatly reduced when enemies are dispersed. They will often cast CA on small single target enemies rather than clumps. Cast Spike Trap to lure your enemies in a small area,, drop a sentry and watch devastation unfold.
If played cautiously, you should almost never die which is a rare feat in the world of DH builds. If played adventurously, you should be able to do some of the fastest rift clears of all the classes (yes, faster than jades).
Yep each monster can be affected once every 12 sec, however you can cast it without CD. If you are constantly moving onto new enemies, this is effectively "no cd"
If that is the play style you prefer then this build seems to work great. To me having my sentry do all the work feels like the most boring way to play diablo.
