I have been thinking about an idea for builds after patch 1.0.8 will be released and i was wondering with the small updates.
Is it possible to get a ballistic build with the new improved rapid fire.
What i mean is something like this :
Hungering arrow - spray of teeth/devouring arrow
Rapid fire - fire support
shadow power/Smokescreen - shadow power / lingering fog
vault - tumble
prep - back up plan/battle scars
sentry - spitfire turret
passives
custom engineering
ballistic
archery
i would like to hear your opinions about it, cause i was curious about it.
or maybe had a similair build and would like to give me some pointers on how to improve or something.
It is a fairly good spec but i feel it only works at low MP lvls. Since rapid fire does not pierce it gets a little rough on high MP's. And even with high velocity personally i burn through my hatred way to fast (probably because i have a calamity instead of manticore)
Exactly as Hova said. Rapid Fire biggest issue is the lack of pierce, but at low MPs, it doesn't matter much. At higher MPs you will end facetanking monsters and at this point you need aoe damage, and strong (hi Spike Traps).
I believe after the itemization patch when / if they fix the black weapon bug, it's my understanding that a +X% cold damage item will only effect cold weapons, so if you don't have one (the cold weapon) a cold soj won't add anything. I could be wrong, but because if this I'm personally not investing in them.
Don't think there's anything planned in that aspect or even a planned fix to black weps. There was a post about trying to make elemental dmg interesting but it was all still very early planning.
As for cold sojs... I've picked up a rf cold soj pretty cheap through a bid. It's prob my 5th cold soj lol
It was actually a pretty recent blue post saying they are going to fix the bug. The only thing unknown is the timeline, of which it's speculated that it will show up in the itemization patch. I only brought it up though to save people some gold, but if they are super cheap than why not
For a while now I was using the shinobi build for mp10 (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#WQgVkl!Xef!ZaYccZ). Now this defensive stance helped me a lot in MP8 - 10 and it was the best build possible for my gear in higher mps. But with 1.0.8, the density got too damn high, and this build started to feel like a drag. While I was still not dying, the ridiculous amount of monsters took too much time. I needed a higher DPS focused, so I changed a little bit, and got the grenade pisser build:
Rapid Fire + Bombardment is just absurd. Just keep the hatred high and piss grenades till everything dies. Its amazing and efficient even for high mps. I tried a ballistic one and its good too, but this one is outrageous

Plz tell me what did you think about it....I'm not a ultra geared DH like most of video makers, but I just rape most mobs in mp8 and 9 and I'm pretty confident that this build is viable with the right gear. The bombardment hit aoe so forthis new patched high density, its a blast.
@diego I tried it out and im completely retarded ! hahahaha cause meh i have to get use to it, but when i get the feeling for it i could see it getting quite strong tbh.
will it try in Co-op Mode next and see how much fun its going to be there.

Don't worry, when that patch comes, ALL PREVIOUS (I mean current) ITEMS WILL BE LESS POWERFUL. They won't get nerfed, the new ones will be simply better. It's the only way they can do a meaningful change with the proposed system.
I don't know what it is about the skill, but I thoroughly love Ballistics, :-) I also love Custom Engineering...had a hard time moving away from a build I had that focused on getting the most out of CE, though since the patch went live this week, I may try a newer version that gets Rapid Fire involved.
Since the PTR patch notes made it public that they were buffing Rapid Fire, I started playing around with "rocket based" builds using it. Here's mine currently, if you're interested in seeing a variant. Though I admit, it could use some fine tuning, it has some fairly logical kiting style built right in.
Left Click: Evasive Fire - Hardened
Right Click: Rapid Fire - Fire Support
1: Caltrops - Jagged Spikes
2: Vault - Trail of Cinders
3: Companion - Boar Companion
4: Strafe - Rocket Storm
Passives: Perfectionist, Steady Aim, Ballistics.
But yeah, huge fan of Ballistics. Admittedly, my DH could use some better gear, though I'd love to have a Ballstics and possbily a Custom Engineering build when I get him to MP10 someday.
I think strafe is a really cool skill, but I hate that it's practically useless if you're surrounded by more than 5-7 mobs, because it has a set amount of attacks that's split up depending on how many enemies are around. I'd rather it do straight aoe damage =D
