Im getting bored of my Monk. TR is about as fun as watching paint dry. Thinking about finally finishing leveling my DH. Just wondering if at least some of this gear will transfer over and at least be a start for a decent DH? I have gotten average rolls on my crafted gear and dont really want to keep trying for attack speed if its not needed.
Attack speed is nice but not mandatory.
Transfer your Innas chest, belt, amulet, shoulder, left ring and gloves.
Go for EHP pants, until you get better defensive stats.
If I lose the pants I wont have 24% speed. Theres no possible way I can get a Lacuni thats even close to my crafted bracers. Hell they dont even roll that good in the first place.

I seriously think that movement speed is over rated, at least for Demon Hunters. Just use Vault with Tumble to move.

Bought a pair of pants almost identical to yours. 14k DPS loss compared to my Innas. Regardless of MS being over rated a DPS loss isnt.
24% movement speed is mandatory for every class if you wanna farm efficiently.
To play high monster power as a Demon Hunter you need a balance between DPS and EHP.
If you don't have a decent amount of EHP, you'll just die a lot.
So in most cases, having EHP pants is way more effective that DPS pants.
24% movement speed isn't mandatory.
That's like saying +disc items don't contribute to EHP. Movement speed will be a + for every intended use of every class and is currently mandatory for every class that wants to maximize their efficiency. As for playing DHs in high MPs instead of a monk.. That's like swapping your car for a bike.. It gets you there and it might be fun for a change, but it will just take much much longer to get it done.
If I wan't movement speed, I just have to use Vault with Tumbe + Tactical Advantage. I gain 60% movement speed for 2 seconds. Which, usually, is enough to find a large group of monsters.
Again, EHP is way more important than 24% movement speed.
That's assuming you're facetanking. Wich plenty of DHs try to pretend is the only way to effectively farm high MPs. The real truth is, you can't effectively farm high MPs as a DH, at least not compared to a class like barb. I have quite decent EHP and yet I find that stutter stepping is much more efficient dps vs facetanking. And if you want to play a DH as a ranged class (heaven forbid) then you don't even need that much surv at all. But you do need move speed.
Demon Hunters can farm MP10 effectively, not like a Barb, but we can. It's just more expensive than other classes. But it's not imposible.
Face taking, is currently the only way to play at high monster powers as a Demon Hunter.
Playing with high DPS and low EHP is possible... If you have 400~500K unbuffed DPS lol.
If you wan't to play at high monster powers, you should prioritize both EHP and DPS.
But if you really don't care, and wan't to farm MP0~MP5 go ahead. Focus on DPS.
You should learn not to talk in absolutes. There's a chance you might be wrong and then you're just 100% wrong. Like how you are when you say that facetanking is the only way to play as a DH in high MPs. I've found that a proper geared and specced DH ele arrow or cluster arrow can farm MP 10 more effectively than a facetank in terms of experience/hour and clear speed - as long as you can recognize that in some situations you are just loosing EDPS by kiting and know when to just facetank for a bit. The difference isn't much because DHs get weaker as monster HP scales with MP (that's a whole different issue though) but you can't just say that it doesn't work. And I'm not even at 300k dps.

@Shndany,
I can farm mp10 with my spec and gear, except I swap the shit hellfire for Unity, which puts me over 300k dps buffed.
Just because you like the tanky specc, doesn't mean the other specs don't work.
For me personaly, I like to play the DH like a ranged class. If I want to get close, I'll stick to the barb.
Yeah, I could also do MP10 with my old legacy Natalya's set. But by farming, I mean kill everything fast at a decent amount of time without dying. That's what I call farming.
Here's my profile, for all the good it will do you. http://eu.battle.net...640/hero/218093 Not that it matters much, I swap specc around a lot and have a lot of spec specific gear pieces as well. You know what I call high MP farming? It's not face tanking. It's not ranged dps. It's taking my gear, transferring it to my monk with it's crap skorn and owning high MP. To me talking about what specc is the most efficient to farm high MP with a DH is by itself being out of touch with how this game works. So I honestly do not get your I'm right and who disagrees with me is wrong atitude.
If you have low EHP, at MP10 as a Demon Hunter you'll die a lot. You won't be able to survive affix combinations like plague, arcane and vortex. Just to say some examples.
I'm not a super-face tank Demon Hunter. There are guys with 100K life lol. I face tank when I can, but I also kite sometimes.
But either way, I can farm MP10 quite efficiently.
I know that I could farm it way faster if I just re-rolled a Barbarian or a CM Wizard.
But you know what? I seriously don't wan't to re-roll a Barbarian... And playing the CM build it's a little bit boring also. Because it's spamming 3 buttons like a crazy man.

I do rely on attack speed to proc more stun on my build.
Get as much as you can get, without sacrificing other stats (Dex + Avg Damage + Crit Chance + Crit Damage). This will help your survivability a lot, allowing you to attack and flee faster, if you have to. And on upper MP's, you have to do this sometimes.
Another advice someone told me a couple of months ago: One-shot white mobs has advantages while farming, and this you won't get focusing only on attack speed. This you'll achieve through brute force (Dex + Avg Damage + CC + CD).
So, on the topic: Is attack speed essential ? No. Unless you are running a proc-dependent build, as the stun-grenades one. In this case, attack speed plus fast weapon (did someone say calamity there ?) is the key for the build.
Unless you plan to focus on a Calamity-only build, attack speed is necessary. Even with Calamity I know high-DPS DH's that don't avoid IAS. With Manticore you want more IAS. The argument that it wastes Hatred is flawed-only shoot the same number of Skill "X" and you'll be using the exact same Hatred as with less IAS. The question about Run Speed is beyond belief; of course you want high Run Speed.
