I have 300k+ unbuffed dh, having 450allres/3600armor/55k life, I tank mp10 with ease using only sp. In my opinion, demon hunters are the best tanks because of high life steal and huge damage they deal.
And how much gold does it take to do that? All a Barb needs is a Decent Skorn and a IK belt. Crit chance is dirt cheap to buy. Also how the hell is dex gear so damn expensive? With everyone rerolling Barbs it should be the other way around but I found gearing my Barb a lot cheaper than my Monk or Wiz.

Tanking stuff has very little to do with farming efficiently. As a matter of a fact it's quite easy for any class to survive easily at MP10.
When people pick a class like DH, they expect to kill stuff quickly (generally at range). Very few players choose the DH class to be a tank while other classes kill elites multiple times as fast.
Didn't want to make a new thread just for this, though it's pretty relevant to this discussion. Basically a comparison of DH and Monk eDPS using mostly the same gear. For people that play multiple classes, you probably already know this. For players that have only played the DH class, this may hurt a little.
I was actually surprised that my Monk still killed the elite at pretty much the same rate as my DH when wearing a 22,500 gold skorn with basically no gem, and having to pull back several times to avoid Arcane beams since I didn't even have LS. It was actually both funny and sad at the same time.
It seems like Blizzard is paying a little more attention to the DH class now. We managed to get our first (since the release of the game) sticky threads on the US DH forums just a couple days ago.
Thank you TianZi for the effort you put linking that video. As a main (or mono) Demon Hunter, i noticed that my class is a lot slower compared to others. My gear isn't top-notch OMG OMG ELITE STUFF, but as soon as i reach Mp6+ there is a noticable lack of efficiency, so i just farm Mp4-5 to not die of boredom.

Linking the second TianZi video, with a worse Skorn:

I found both videos very interesting, that's sheer evidence that's something wrong.
TianZi, nice post and videos, this is the kind of feedback that cannot be ignored.
