Multishot build > this build.. in terms of effective paragon farming. I can give comments if anyone's interested.

hello, i'm wanted to know your comments on the multishot build and if it's effective at mp2+

I just brought a offhand with 7% cc on this skill and wanted to xp with this build.

I could never get over 40m EXP/hour with strafe build even on MP0. I can easily get to 55m EXP/hour on MP1, which means I can probably add a bit more If I want to purely focus on EXP grind.

Hmm, I just tried speed running Alkaizer at MP0 (changed Beastly Bombs to Vault and Archery to Tactical Advantage) and was able to do runs with 7 - 7.5 million XP in 8 - 9 minutes. This should be about 48 - 50 million XP/hour. Given that I only get 7% xp bonus from my follower, a Hellfire Ring/Radiant Star combo should add 36% more XP (after getting 5 stacks, so you should be able to get even more). 70 million XP+ on MP0 do not seem that unreachable.

I use high critchance (78% for Strafe) with Nightstalker for ressource regeneration though. During the course of a run it might save you quite a lot of time not having to run back for healthglobes.

I dont know anything about DH's, but it looks like the farm speed is slow to me.

    i bet you play a barb :D

    WD, actually.

I changed the build a little bit and things got better. While I was having a load of fun with this build, it was missing something to explode rares faster. Fan of Knives with retaliate was the answer that I was looking for.

FoK just smash rares, Prep with Punishment replenish my hatred all the time, and I have almost infinite discipline with NS. Cool!

The essential of WW barb is their almost 100% up time on Sprint that not only gives bonus movement speed, also leaves mini tornado behind that is going to clear pretty much all trash/white mobs on mp0.

With that being said, I completely missed the point of "WW DH build", which basically hover around the mobs with a decreased movement speed. There are a bunch of argument based on "if you have enough gear, WW spec clears out everything faster than any other spec". With the dps I have right now, I do clear farming route faster with just Bola Shot - Volatile Explosive combined with Vault.

Edit: I had tried new strafe since 1.0.5 hit live server, generally a full clear of Alkaizer route takes around 9 minutes on mp0 with Bola Shot, and strafe build would take around 13 minutes. Things die equally fast, but so much time wasted on moving from point A to B.

then you maybe missed me doing mp0 with this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#eSXVhg!bXe!cZccZc spec. nearly 100% uptime shadowpower sprint and fullspeed strafe. sub 10min alkaizer runs and i managed around 9,3m xp without the best ruby.
take a look http://de.twitch.tv/jarmenster/b/341239725 you clear all white mobs on the fly which is pretty much exactly like the mini tornados only difference is very rarely mobs die offscreen which helps not missing leg drops.

Except you dont have vault in your build and that gives you way more speed than what you doing.

Smokescreen/TA might be even faster than Vault/TA (but not viable without a legacy Nats). Here's a speed run with Vault/TA I did that still should have quite some space for improvement (run wise and equipment wise):

I'm actually really interested in playing this build but I've been having an insane amount of problems with it. I have about 112k DPS with the passives you mentioned and still can't run this without every phase beast pack literally 1 shotting me EVERY god damned time. I can't kill them before they get a hit on me.

That's my gear, any advice would be appreciated.

It took some time for me to actually use this build without dying.
I have 175k dps and a little more life and resistance than you but my tips are

1 - Go to MP0 with this life and resistance.
2 - Train a lot more with the strafe and vengeance.
3 - Always use shadow step (with blood moon) before strafing.

have you picked smoke screen - choking gas? it is the easiest countermeasure against elite packs that give you problems. just strafe into them use ss and strafe out of them(u can ss while strafing, it doesnt stop the strafe). rinse repeat. nightstalker should keep your disc high enough to always have enough to do this. hatred is a much bigger problem for strafe builds with manticores. it would help if you could post the exact build youve been using.

steady aim doesnt make sense u have to use archery.
use this build http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#eSXVhg!bXe!cZccZc has both shadow power and smoke screen
also your dps might be too low to run with the 100% movspeed straferune already so maybe try the strafe grenaderune

Strafe with Drifting Shadow rune has pitiful damage output. I have tried it with twice as much damage you but it was awfully slow, I literally had to circle around elites 2 or 3 times before they died. Try Demolition rune to see how it goes.
  • #56
    Demolition > Drifting Shadow.

I never tried this style of play with SS Choking Gas though, will try this tonight.
  • #57
You can use shadow power with speed, but go for demolition in strafe. You need a lot more DPS for a full speed build to work. And steady aim don't work in this build, go for perfectionist or archery instead.

I'm using this build and mp1 -2 is pretty easy with it.

FoK just rape most elite adds.

I have been playing this spec for a long time, and I have optimized my gear for it.
I run the following spec :
    http://eu.battle.net...301/hero/520316
(it only shows 41.5% crit but actually I have 56.5% on Strafe, and thus 149k dps rather than 121k)

I really think demolition is the only way to go, with punishment to refill hatred.
Most of your hatred regeneration will come for globes. The bat will prove very useful bonus regeneration, however choosing the Templar just for the aura is not worth it at all.
Shadow's power should be used with gloom (increased move speed does not make sense while using demolition, because when you are under Shadow's power, you are fighting and thus you want to stay as close as you can)
As passive abilities, you definitely need Vendetta.
Tactical advantage will allow you to be a lot faster, however you need decent gear to have enough discipline or you will have to save it for Shadow's power.
At the moment i play with Night Crawler but it feels quite weak, and maybe Perfectionnist can give better results.

To be fast enough with Demolition, you need to always be at melee range, meaning you need a lot of defensive stats, and pickup radius as well to get globes.
    I recommand :
    - At least 40k hp, 450 all resists and close to 4k armor (which seems to be the only stat affecting reflect damage, in my experience if you only have 3k armor, you will lose more life than you can steal against reflect damage packs, even with Shadow's power activated)
    - A lot of critical chance and no attack speed.Critical chance gives you discipline and hatred through punishment while attack speed will just make you spend your hatred too quickly. Unless you already have a very high dps and high critical chance do not take items with attack speed, except for your quiver and maybe an Andarielle's visage.
    - At least 12 pickup radius (I play with 21 and never have to care about picking globes or gold).
    - Some health from globes, especially if you have average gear. Health from globes will heal you more effectively than any lifesteal.
    - Maximum discipline is always good and will make you vault more often (in my experience there will always be times when you manage to be full discipline as there will always be times when you are out of it, as most of your regen relies on globes and how many you will get).

at 180k dps (with archery) and low ats, drifting shadow is perfectly viable on mp 0/1.
i can farm mp1 with this gear/build https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Tankor-2271/hero/231385 ezpz with perma shadowpower sprint and very rarely run out of resources

Strafe builds require certain level of gear customization in order to make them work. If you have average gear but tailored for Strafe build, ie. less IAS, additional Strafe crit chance and some pick up radius on gear, it will perform well for you. I have build my DH in a traditional way, use HA/BL/CA, therefore, Strafe does not perform that well for me. Im at a gear level where swapping pieces is very expensive if I want to maintain same damage output. I could accept drop in my DPS to get some of those Strafe-supporting affixes but that is not something I want to do since I have worked hard and paid a lot to get where I am.

I do consider option to farm MP0 with a Strafe build this weekend and equip Leoric Signet I have found on my monk alt to see how it goes. Paragon leveling past lvl75 slows down a lot so I want to see if extra 25% EXP, lower MP and Strafe build make it more bearable. If not, I will start optimizing my gear for higher MP to farm items and ignore EXP efficiency once I hit plvl80.
