Ive been away from the game for a few months and just started getting back into it. Im constantly struggling with choosing which stat to sacrifice to gain certain others. For example, I can currently dump my amulet for another that has +216 dex and some crit damage increase, but is it worth it to give up the crit chance? My all res is non-existant and not sure what stats if any to sacrifice to make up for it?
When I was first starting out gearing up for real I noticed a few things. The high priority stats only come on certain items and some items only contain a stat/vit/all res. Take for instance shoulders, belt and boots. They only have those stats(save a few legendaries). So I tried to find a good balance between dex,vit and all resist on those. So try to find a good balance in those items even if you have to lower some dex.
Your life is great where it is so I wouldn't lose too much vit but you definitely need more resists. Id shoot for 300+ of all and try to get physical as an off stat. If you dont have the money for good, solid upgrades, just farm what you can and keep watching the AH.
You can also go to http://theasiangamer...age-calculator/ and input your exact character sheet. Then when you find an upgrade you can tell what your dps will change. Just alter the stats. Then you know where your money is going.
My only build suggestion is that when you get more resistances move over from SS to gloom. Its like night and day.
I can hardly even believe the extent of your lack of all res! Damage mitigation is critical to survivability and is generally more valuable than simply adding more vit. I try to have all res on any item I can. (I have around 500-700 all res when including perfectionist, depending on which items I use).
I didn't notice any bonus to health globe pickup radius, yet you seem to have some bonus life to health globes. Having it on just one item is quite handy. (You don't really need more than that, but it's much better than having none).
You don't seem to have near-capped movement speed. Try to get to 23-25%. Have a look at the item "The Inquisitor", a unique demon hunter cloak.
Perhaps an amulet with dexterity + crit chance (and anything else that comes with it)?
You could try using a quiver (of comparable quality) that has a damage bonus to elemental arrow.
You could also consider legacy nat's set. It really is awesome.
You could try the new and improved sentry skill. (Perhaps with the guardian turret rune).
Also, shadow power + gloom is very, very good. You could use it over smokescreen (And, like said above, get some resistances)
Change sharpshooter to something else like perfectionist, maybe. (Again, the more all res, the better)
You could give vault (tumble rune) + tactical advantage a go. (You could even switch out steady aim. You can't always be out of range, after all. See what you think about staying in range with shadow power + gloom)
With 0 resistances and very low armor, there's not much you can do to survive the higher Monster Power settings. Smokescreen/Lingering-Fog and Preparation is indeed your only chance, and even then you'll probably die a lot to elites with things like, Reflect Dmg (bad timing on SS and you're dead), Extra Health and Shielding/Fast/Vortex.
I'd start slowly reworking your gear to keep at least 75-80% of those stats, while adding a mix of some resistances and +armor (affixes). With it, you can use some defensive skills and survive very well - Sentry with 15% dmg reduc aura, Boar Companion, Shadow Power with Gloom.
The most important things to upgrade there right now would be your Rings imho. They're the only ones waaaaay below the acceptable. You'll probably be able to find upgrades for 5-10k gold. And pretty good ones for 150-200k gold. You'll probably vendor those 2. Your Quiver is actually quite decent, and probably the only ones you aren't going to upgrade cheaply (maybe even the Bow).
Thanks for the feedback all. So what should the targeted All Resist be before I consider switching SS to gloom? (200-300?) As far as rings go I know those are then next pieces for big upgrades however I am cash poor and on the US server. Zero are you on the us server? If so what sort of stats should I aim for for the 150-200k range?
