Ive been playing with Shock Collar a lot and really like, i think this rune really out does anything that hungering arrow can produce if we're talking about leveling.
i was testing single player damage for boss fights specifically on diablo inferno, and using bola shot w/ immenent doom and cluster arrow w/ loaded for bears was the easly the victor here.
Along w/ trail of cinders, RoV has a rune w/3300 dps over 15 secs i feel is way OP, awesome choice for tanky build.
I did something interesting that i never did before. i changed Steady Aim and Archery Passives and used grendier/vegence/ballistics with a cluster arrow rune that shoots rockets, which i found was great but loaded for bear seamed to have more front load damage w/ archery and steady paasives. some sort of variartion with the rocket rune and ballistic and become extremely intriguiging.
Ultimatley i fell in love with Chakkram w/ Razor Disks i thought it was the most fun ive had in a while. Now i dont think its the best choice, i still think cluster arrow w/ loaded for bear does more damage ultimatley but razor disk was pretty close for me anyway to taking over my secondary shot.
If you REALLY want to try something "out there" that works VERY well...
Grenades - Stun Grenades.
Cluster Arrow - Cluster Bombs.
+Grenadier Passive
(You MIGHT want to consider bat companion if you're playing 2H).
Takes a while to get into shape using grenades, but nothing compared to the Cluster Arrow rune...
It's a weird one to learn to use. It has only one range, regardless of how far/near you target.
The really sweet part is the little bombs that pop out. A bit of patience and practice you will learn the sweet spot of it, causing it (even on single target fights) to hit the same target with 3 bomblets.
There is a REALLY good reason they didn't buff that rune this patch... try it out...
Just be patient with it.
EDIT: I should probably also mention that using Caltrops with the 2sec snare is a very good idea...
its really funny you mention the grenades cuz i was testing it out last night without reading your post. i wasnt using stun grenades though, i used the choking gas rune and loaded for bear w/ grendier passive and bat companion and the hatred renegration is insanely awesome. im gonna try the caltrop idea though tonight.
i forgot to mention i tried multishot aswell as a spender, but only used the rune that lowers the cost of hatred to 15. i thought it was cool but myabe in group sitiuations .some other forum states that he was very successful using the multishot fire rune.
I actually was using this build before the patch and liked it pretty well, just got much better with the tweaks. I consider it more of an artillery build. No movement skills, but self-heals and lots of damage.
LC-Elemental Arrow (Lightning Ball) (AoE Room clearing)
RC-Cluster Arrow (Loaded for Bear) (Instant Death)
1-Caltrops (Jagged Spikes) (Backup and slowdown)
2-Preparation (Battle Scars) (Heal and more caltrops)
3-Rain of Vengeance (Beastly Bombs) (Good for nuking elites)
4-Familiar (Bat) (Need the hatred regen)
The main oddity is that yes, I don't run with any hatred generators other than the bat. Oddly enough, I have yet to have issues with it. Mostly on bosses I just use cluster arrow (elemental's animation is too long), and run around caltropping and rain'ng them.
The patch made it so this build is lots of up front dps (can knock butcher inferno down to half health within a few seconds of starting).
