So after playing my casualish DH this entire time Im finding myself only able to afford the common mostly glass cannon style of play. Im really getting rather frustrated with the insta-death at the blink of an eye.
My question is; Is it worth the millions in gear to gain more survivability? Is the class any less one-shotty with the nicer expensive gear with Dex/Stam/AR or is it still insta death reguardless?
Im really not interested in the DH tank builds im just curious if the non glass cannon build is really worth the gold sink.
Definitely worth it but not easy to attain. 1.04 should be better, you may still die in 1-hit, but co-op will a lot more forgiving atleast.
Even with balance, you may only take 2-3 hits. I am doing okay with just 22k hp and 150 ar, reduced melee dmg is actually a godsend. I am actually able to take atleast 1 spear throw if I don't cast gloom fast enough in Act 3. It also does help that I am rocking 4pc natalyza and can spam gloom, but with high dex, I am able to "luckily" dodge a lot of attacks that would otherwise kill me. I would definitely aim for 35k hp, 250 ar, and 50k dps unbuffed. I am know its just people throwing out number, but I think you should be able to survive 2-3 hits with that from MOST monster. Golgons and 2-handed skeletons will still probably own you, and anything with the enrage buff (red glowy) thing will probably hurt a bit. I don't recommend eating any fireballs if you don't have to.
Smoke Screen and Gloom are definitely your best friend, so stack as much discipline as you can.
Balanced makes things much more relaxed. I can pretty much face tank elites in Act 1, take multiple hits from elites in Act 2 and even take a hit from elites in Act 3. Most Act 4 mobs can still kill me or take me down to almost nothing if I don't manage to dodge or get lucky. I don't die from being 1 shotted by trash mobs in Act 3, anymore. I used to hate being insta killed by crap that I didn't even see.
It wasn't cheap to gear up and I did it a piece at a time. I know that I got lucky with some good drops and made quite a bit on the AH, but I've been upgrading all my gear with MF and losing a bit of DPS and defense.
This is a link to my gear. The numbers are a little lower than my normal set because I'm wearing 2 of my farming pieces. I have around 92k dps, 38k health, and 500 AR when I'm wearing my full set.

You can withstand hits just fine with ~400 resists, 35k+ health, and ~900loh.

It's hilarious when people make stupid posts. It's even more hilarious when you see that they actually had to edit the stupid post.
