I have 40m to 50m to spend upgrading my equipment. I play a semi-tanky DH, so I want to keep my all resists and vitality roughly where they are, but I want to increase my dps to hopefully 60k w/o sharpshooter. I want to focus primarily on more crit damage because that's where I'm lacking the most.
One thing that I'm likely going to get is a chest with some discipline on it. Also, I'm thinking that since I can't afford gloves/rings/amulets with crit chance, crit damage, and IAS; I'll just get two out of the three stats on each equip. I was considering getting CC/CD on my gloves and amulet and IAS/CD on my rings. Is this a good idea? Any advice will be appreciated.
I just bought a pair of gloves with 164 dexterity, 8% IAS, 45% CD, and 34 AR for 6m which I hope was a decent deal. It raised my dps to 47.8k. Should I get rings with CD and CC now instead of CD and IAS?
Do you think I should be getting IAS or crit chance in addition to crit damage on the rings?
Prioritize balance of Crit Chance+Crit Dmg , and than IAS to fill in gaps. Pref. items that offer 8-9% IAS.
Other than gloves, IAS is still very expensive on amulet+rings.
Thanks for all the help. I'm in the process of getting rid of all my extra cold resist. Roughly half my gear right now is my monk's equipment. And what does 6/6 crit mean? Is that 6% crit chance and 6% crit damage?
Also, with a search parameter of 7m buyout, I can find rings with 6% IAS/3% crit chance, 27% CD, and 70ish dex. The IAS rings provide me with the most boost in dps with one ring getting me to 50k dps.
The thing with how crit damage is valued is it's dynamic with both att speed and CC. This is a no brainer as I'm sure you understand more crit chance = more damage from teh CD and more shots = more chance at crits = more damage from CC.
Saying that I would look at upgrading your bow to a xbow with the same or better DPS, dex, crit damage greater than 60% and an open socket for another crit damage gem.
Also looking at your pants you have a basic flawless square in them, go for atleast the star, they are around 500-600k to make/buy (least on US). It should get you a few hundred more DPS.
As I said before your crit damage percent is VERY low for a DH, if you get that to 200-250% you will see a MASSIVE dps boost especially with your crit (get it up more if you can afford it with the crit damage xbow) and you will start to see 60-70k DPS. The advantage with upgrading your weapon is you don't loose resists which can be a pain to replace, but loosing the 160 vit will indeed hurt. Also for the xbow, try and get one with cold damage. I think (may need someone else to confirm here) but if you crit with a cold weapon it slows the target, making survival/kiting much easier (side note do the same with the scoundrel if you use him for added slows).
Thank you for the answer. I know that you need a balance of the stats, which is why I'm trying to balance out my IAS, CD, and CC on my items in the most efficient manner. As for upgrading a weapon, I did a cursory search of the AH just now for a crossbow with 100+ vit(I need the hp I get from my weapon and I consider dex and vit interchangeable stats on any item) and 80%+ crit damage. The best i found was 1089 dps, 95% CD, 120 vitality for 18m. Plugging in those values into my dps spreadsheet, I only get a 1k dps boost. For 18m, I don't really consider that a viable upgrade at the moment. Plus, I like the attack speed of bows since I don't use a burst-oriented build.
Crit Chance > IAS > CD. There is no point in having 300 CD with 20% crit chance. Im going for 2 APS, 40 crit chance and 300 CD and 2k dex. That give me around 90k dps w/o SS
My stat goals aren't quite as high as yours since I don't have the money to buy gear with IAS, CC, and CD on them at the same time along with vit/AR. I'm trying to shoot for 30% crit chance, 200-250% crit damage, and whatever attack speed I end up at. Preferably higher than 1.50 attacks per second.
Some theorycrafter posted a while back that mathematically 1.6 APS is about ideal if you aren't able to get 2.0APS. I've personally found 1.6 to be the exact speed that I can stutter step without missing a shot. Post-patch Inna's glories are a cheap way to up your attack speed, and the two piece bonus with inna's blessing can overcome any dex loss you sustain from it.
I'm currently sitting at 1.81 attacks per second after buying my new pair of gloves. I'm sure I can hit 2.0 aps if I buy 1 or 2 more items with IAS on it. Though my crit damage is still low and my crit chance has fallen below 30%. I can't stutter-step very well yet anyways. I mess up a lot while trying :P.
EDIT: Oh, I tried the suggestion of equipping the Scoundrel with a cold bow. It worked amazingly. I absolutely cannot switch back to the templar now because the cold effect made kiting 100x easier and increased my damage while using Cull of the Weak. I specced him for survival, so he has 82k hp and a crappy 1.5k dps. But he rarely dies, so the cold effect is always active. I just don't know what to use for his tier 2 ability. Neither of them seem too useful.
Make sure you have him use multishot and not the slowing shot, as his attacks will then slow up to three targets. You can also stack cheap IAS blues on him for a slowing turret.
This might be silly but are you using shift when you stutter step?
I made sure he's using multishot. And I don't really want to dump IAS gear with mf and vitality on him since that'll just be extra money. He shoots pretty fast at 1.50 attacks per second anyways. And I remapped the 'hold' button to my spacebar, so I do use it while trying to stutter-step.
Thanks for all the help guys. I upgraded my weapon, both my rings, my amulet, my gloves, my bracers, and my chest piece and now have 62.6k dps after the scoundrel bonus. I can easily do ponies in under 25 minutes thanks to my higher dps. And I still feel like I have enough room to easily reach 70k dps without really breaking the bank.
