I don't buy a weapon unless it comes with a socket anymore. Its a huge DPS increase having that critical dmg affixed to your weapon. Especially if you use SS. Which I don't use anymore cause my crit chance is up to 49% unbuffed.

You should be using whatever gives you the most DPS. If X weapon without a socket gives more than Y with a socket, X is clearly the better option and choosing Y would be completely moronic.
To the OP, use the spreadsheet (check the frontpage of this subforum) to check your DPS gains with new gear or weapons. In my slightly meh gear, 38 Dex gives me 1.3k DPS.

Very true but I've compared several bows to a bow with a socket and a critical gem in it and 90% of the time the socketed bow wins out. Even against bows that were 2 to 300+ dos higher than the socketed bow. You can do it yourself if you like just to hopefully back my statement up. Bows with Critical DMV or with a possibility to throw a critical DMV gem in them are sought out for.
Totally disagree here that DPS is the main factor when deciding which weapon is better. If you take IAS out of calculation weapon damage plays huge role in Damage output. I especially picked up a bow with less dps but its damage was higher than those similiar both min and max. 250 more min damage on blue xbow +dex %+skill%+crit dmg? Just quick estimate 250x1800dex - 4.5k raw damage+skill %. Crits will make even noticeable diffrence 10k+ per hit already.
When im looking for weapon i always look up Damage first because it can vary a lot on weapons in range of 100 DPS->socket->Crit dmg->Dex/etc->IAS(post patch). 38 dex is hardly noticeable diffrence in overall damage.
... When I say DPS, I don't mean the DPS value of the weapon. I mean the number that your DPS improves when you put it in the spreadsheet (i.e all factors are considered). I honestly figured people would be smart enough to make that assumption and connect those dots, but apparently I'm mistaken.

Whichever gives more in the spreadsheet is the one you go with. I've also checked a 950 bow with a socket vs an 1100 and the 1100 won out. Depends on a lot of factors, but 90% of the time socketed weapons cost insanely more than those without, and you're unlikely to find a cost efficient improvement. No point in getting a 5 mil weapon with a socket when you can get a 2 mil without and have the same DPS gains.
What kind of stats do I want to be looking for? I had no idea it would make that big of a difference.
Flat damage on your weapons is always your number one concern. Then your dexterity (for DH and M) will increase your weapon damage by 1% per 1 point of dex. Then IAS will further increase your DPS by making you attack more times per second. Although, IMO, IAS is worthless if you are constantly running around kiting. IAS is great for spots where you can stand and spam, but its pointless when kiting a lot as you are generally doing in D3 later difficulties.

I'm sad

I'm so confused.
It was pretty silly using it. I wonder how much I can sell it for now.

Yeap, tooltip bugged. I notice that earlier with the patch.

It is higher to balance the fact that if you get a Red Ring of Death, you have to replace it.
