23k - Life
3338 - Armor
Physical Resist - 480
All Resist - 203
I get one shotted by anything really, melee or otherwise.
My question is for any Demon Hunters out there that are not getting totally pwned by everthing in inferno, if you could list your stats as I have above so I know what numbers I need to work towards.
yeah i am going to say that dh is about killing stuff before it kills you, if you are getting 1 shot, outside of unavoidable stuff like arcane+waller or jail when ss is out of juice (discipline) then you are doing it wrong
dh's strengths are its dps, mobility, and a few other things, makes it fast paced and fly by the seat of your pants (or however that expression goes) and arent meant to take hits or tank or anything, we die, badly...we get surrounded, we die, teleporting mobs, vortex..we die.
Point is, dh currently are "glass cannon" forget spending millions on those resist gear (which are meant for monks, dex gear) and get yourself some nice dps, get a 1k+ weapon, you just have to focus on the right build or stats to get there.
Archery, steady aim and sharpshooter are the main passives you want, tactical advantage is great too, if you swap steady aim out for it, steady is great for when you get the drop on a mob, but if its a champ with fast, they close that gap so quickly, that you lose that bonus and probably wont see it again till the next pack, its situational at best.
grab elemental arrow nether tentacles, i use evasive shot as my hatred builder, with covering fire, does amazing aoe damage, clears pots, breakables for free, and dodges every time they get in your face...its a great spec, unload tentacles till empty, trap/ss and unload evasive fires (with 2 fast 1 handers, its faster, 3.0+ attack speed is sick)
caltrops, marked for death (with hatred regen rune) and vault, and you got a nice build, simple but effective.
for stats you want to stack crit damage, attack speed, as much dex as you can get, vitality helps, but in a pure dps build, dps over everything else, you are going to die in 1 hit either way, there is no preventing that, outside of playing better, learning your class and how to play, practice, many many grueling deaths, many hours staring at that you are dead screen with 30 seconds of time to kill...but it gets better.
one last thing (long post) get some good life on hit, to counter those reflect mobs, 500+ and you should be golden, cant count many times i ripped my own face off trying to kill those reflect champs, so evil.

With 23k life and such low armor/resists everything in Act 2 is one shotting you as well. Act three mobs just live long enough to reach you and make you blow through your discipline.
If everything one-shots you, you are obviously not ready for that specific act yet.
Go back one act, farm more gold / items and try again later. The progression is not meant to be linear.
I'm at 45k hp, 600 all res, 65k dps (without ss), and just recently act 3 and 4 became playable without getting one-shot by everything.
I'm at 20k hp, barely any resists and less DPS than that and I'm on act 4. Yes, I get one-shot by everything, but I'm obviously ready for act 4 as I've made it there without much issue.
I made this guide for Wizards, but you can use some of the tricks that all ranged classes can take advantage of like
- Ballista spots for free elite kills
- Laming mobs through portal and taking no hits
Vs Mortar Minions: Run 90 degrees to attack, to dodge, hit and run 90 degrees, repeat
Vs Fireballing Chasers: Run in serpentine/zigzag formation
Vs Invulnerable/Shielding Minions: Portal lame
Vs Too hard monsters: Skip or Portal lame or Ballista chokepoint
Vs Herald of Pestilance or Quills: Shoot from off screen or Missile Seeker behind doorway
Vs Reflect Damage: Items with +300 hp per hit will help a lot, if not, use crystal armor when pumping out dps
Not enough valors or too many skipped monsters, check The Keeps level 1 waypoint, use portal to level 2
For everything else: portaling

maybe consider doubling up with +resists and +armor on slots that can't have crit/atk speed
I mean for sure, higher is better, just wonder what "successful" numbers currently look like.
