I've been wondering, how exactly the Indigo runed Hungering Arrow works. in case you dont know the effect:
H.A.(lvl 60): Fire a magically imbued arrow that seeks out targets for 85% weapon damage and has a 35% chance to pierce through targets.
Indigo rune: Scatter Shot: If the arrow successfully pierces the target, the arrow splits into (1+runelvl) arrows. So with a lvl 4 rune, that's 5 arrow.
My question is, will these arrows still seek target, pierce at given chance, then (if the pierce was successful) split into more arrows ( I saw somewhere, that even unruned arrows can pierce multiple times).
I dont really know how the 85% and the 35% are calculated (these numbers are effective at lvl 60 according to the calculator), but if you take these numbers as given, and the skill works as I speculated in the previous paragraph, then doesn't this effect seem awesome (and OP)? You shoot once, have a nice pierce chance (1 out of 3 should pierce) then it splits into 2-8 arrows, so you have to be very unlucky, not to have at least one of them pierce again, and so on. You see a big group, shoot once, and watch as the enemies crumble before your eyes. Or you shoot it at a boss, it pierces, and he will get damaged by the infinite arrows until the end of the fight, like you put a dot on him.
Other things I can imagine, are that after the pierce, the arrows can't pierce again, or that they just shoot out in a cone, or that they cant turn back like the normal arrow, or that a single enemy can not be pierced by more than 1 arrow from the 2-8.
I'm interested in your opinions and thoughts in this matter
1. We don't know additional arrows are homing. They might just follow random directions.
2. We don't know additional arrows pierce and reproduces the skill. They might even pierce and seek another target. but the effect does not trigger again.
The way I see this rune: if pierce procs, 5 arrows are shooted in random directions and the original arrow seeks the next target (possibly piercing again and procing other arrow "nova" effect).
I can't see it splitting the targetnd causing a super nova of arrows that would insta gib any cluster of mobs. Think of corpse explosion, but better. Corpse explosion was basically an insta gib of a group of mobs, but required something to use the spell. This just requires you to shoot the mobs. I think it would take too much programming to ensure that the arrows only hit a target once in the splitting effect to not cause a super nova. I assume it would be a once pierce arrow, then the # of arrows (based on runestone) would just act as normal arrows and pierce the target, but not causing an after effect.

Does anyone know if the arrow can pierce the same target more than once? I've seen it hit 4 different enemies, but havent seen it pierce the same target more than once yet.

Otherwise, it would be too OP.
