Yeah, the ferret seems pretty sweet. However, how useful he is will depend on how much gold find you can get on items. If you can easily get 200-300% from items, an extra 40% isn't that good. At that point the ferret just becomes a companion summon that is cooler than any summon you can get from the scrolls.
But if gold find is harder to come by, I know I will definitely rock the ferret.
And for all you Dark Tower fans out there, mine will be named Oy
200-300% gold find I think is really going to be easy to get.
I will be going for as much gold find on each character. I think I should be able to reach 2k% if not a whole lot more on each character.
It doesn't say that the ferrets increase your gold find, but they pick up 25% more gold. The gold that drops is already multiplied by your gold find, and you see that amount on the ground. So when the ferret goes to pick it up, you actually get 25% more than what you see on the ground.
In other words, there is a very good possibility that the gold find from the ferret could be multiplicative. Thus the more gold find you have the better he gets.
Lets say you had 200% gold find, and a monster drops 10 gold.
+200% Gold find would force the monster to instead drop 30 gold.
If your ferret picked up the gold you would receive 30*1.25 = 37.5 gold. That is equivalent to another 75% gold find.
Yes, it does:
The ferret collects gold fo you, and increase gold found on monsters by....
It does not say, that it increases it, as you pick up. Howewer, it can mean that it's not (1+(GF+FerretGF)/100)), instead this: (1+GF/100)*(100+FerreetGF/100) -which means that it increased the original and the GFvalue as well. I hope it's understandable, what I tried to write. for example with 100 gold, 200% GF and 30% ferret GF it becomes 100*(1+2,3)= 330 and 100*3*1,3=390
I interpret that as meaning, when the ferret picks the gold up.
He finds the gold when he picks it up off the monster.
Regardless its semantics, all I was saying is that there is a possibility that its multiplicative and not additive.
