According to the response we got in the interview, I would confidently say that the DH is getting some form of summon/pet. If so, this will definitely be my first class to play.
I am sure at this point it is more of a "What type of pet do we include?"
Perhaps they should check this poll to see what most people want

A door-shaped black portal use as triggers to trick enemys that's right behind you ran into it, warp them into an exit you arranged earlier, let teammate barbarian be doormen to bash anything that's coming out of it.
Or warp victims into a 5 second cubical zone, immediately warp in beefy teammates to bash the life out of him. Can also be used to simply seperate enemy team members.
The door-shaped black portal can be cool if it can be drawn out fast; but perhaps it will be more sensible to be set as trap arrangments.
I still think her best pet choice would be a decoy.
Sentry: Creats a shadow illusion in target area. The illusion taunts enemies nearby until it gets killed.
Why this is the right summon for the DH ?
First it fits her gameplay style. Meat shield is just the the most basical function. The DH AoE attacks, except from multishot, have strange AoE paterns and drawbacks (bola shot needs clustered enemies, granades have a delay, molten arrow is a vertical firewall). The ability to put yout enemy together in the same place is just very synergical with all DH's AoE skills.
But use this skill with traps is surely the most cool combo. Set a trap and put a sentry over it will lure your enemies to death. The best way to set a trap is using a bait right?
Not too mention that this fits the DH's flavour like a glove.
I hope it will be an assassin-like female "shadow" warrior wearing a sexy black leather suit ^
She will distract enemies and fight alongside the demonhunter.
I,m not entırely convınced the Demon Hunter would use demons as a pet. Yes she would use some demonıc powers and such, but not an actual demon. Cause you should have to have Horazon-lıke powers to use demons to that extent.
If she has a demon "pet", lore wise I think it would be more like submission by physical force as oppose to some mind control. I think of it more as forced slavery.

A permanent pet I can't see for the Demon Hunter. The whole idea behind the character is that they do nothing but kill, track, live breathe, blah blah demons. Yes, a pet would be cool, but it wouldn't really fit the "lone wolf" idea behind the DH for me. On the other hand, Perhaps a skill that summons a couple shadow hounds to charge and taunt enemies in front of you for X seconds would be neat. Would allow for a "taunt" like skill giving the hunter room to breathe and set up for attack without the pooch always at your side.
Sentry could be a clone of yourself, static (as decoy) but still able to fight (as valkyrie).
This way it will deal out a little damage, attract enemies and act as a tank, giving you time to shot them all.
DH should be able to summon it quite often, since seems to be a character relying on mobility.
With runes you may play with the skill: casting more than one simultaneously, giving them elemental damage or change the summon at all.
I like the idea of monsters converted, but that depends on the mechanics of the game, in D2 1 converted monster was pretty useless,
but maybe in d3 the damage-health ratio is better so converted monsters will be more useful.
but it wouldn't surprise me if she had some little demon pets
I voted for a single demon type minion. I think splitdogg had a good idea with the being able to tame a demon of your choice from the enemies you fight although I'm not sure how they'd implement that. Seems like alot of work for one skill although level progression is solved already: if your demon is too weak nab another one at your level. They'd probably go with a simple summon though and it seems like the simplest solution. As for its characteristics I'd really like to see something quick and agressive that is more of a disposable decoy than a tank or damage dealer. As far as Bartuc goes, The DH is supposed to be resilient to demonic magic so I think she'd be fine having demons under her control with no negative outcome. In closing, I want this to be like every other skill: Useful but not necessary.
I do not believe the Demon Hunter should have any type of minions. Though, because the class is based on a mix of the Assassin and Amazon, both of which had a single, minor summon, the idea is plausible.
Most likely a copy of herself, as her predecessors did. Summoning a demon minion is ironic.
I personally would like a single demon that I can summon. Since they took away the demon hunter being a demon (which isnt a bad thing) I would still like a more demon feel. I think having this pet would hit the spot. Something like the grizzly of the druid. Or perhaps a choice of either a tanking demon or a damage one.
We're in luck. But since the Chinese leaked image doesn't have any description on it, we wont know if it is a tanking demon or a damage one.
I dislike the humanoid summons to be honest. A mindblast type effect is already on the Witch Doctor. It would be nice if she had one enslaved demon pet. Binding the thing to her will and making it crawl seems like the type of thing the character would do.
Might as well save the puppies and birds for future Druid/Ranger classes, right?
The image on the skill show some kind of a bird though.
I would prefer summons of that have a timer rather than hp. Meaning that the summoned creatures would act as distraction for a short time(increases per lvl) for the Demon Hunter to get some range and attack with traps and bowattacks. The demons would not attack but do some kind of movement and would be shadowy looking.
The image does look like it's portraying a shadowy bird like creature. Though I would prefer if it doesn't have a timer but rather HP and that it can either be a tanking demon or a damage one. Either way, it will still be able to serve it's purpose of distracting the enemies & buy me time to set-up the Spike Trap, before I let a Hell lot of bolts loose.
i would like a pet that has life and can tank for the hunter and has you go along your pet levels and gets stronger thru skill points that you can waste and make him tank/dmg kind of thing...
I agree! :Thumbs Up:
Anyway, since a Chinese website had posted the leaked images of the skill list of the different classes, this would be the 4th Active Skill that I have chosen for my ideal Demon Hunter build:
# 4. Companion: No description yet. Might act like the Necro's Golem (looks like a raven; hope it turns into a phoenix or one with an Ice Freeze or Lightning damage when runed). --> If similar to a Golem, will be used to divert the monsters' attention while I'm attacking at a safe distance, this way you don't get mobbed by the monsters; Reqr'd lvl: 16
I'd like it if it was something like "eat their hearts to gain their strength" kind of a thing. You kill or mutilate a demon, perform some ritual that consumes the demon to give your shadow power (cwutididthr) and animates it. As you kill more demons, portions of their beings are funneled into this shadow as they die, thus why it would get more powerful over time (as you leveled).
The following regards the data-mined runestone info so reader beware!
I knew it! According to the leaked info, there is no reptile T.T Ah well I like the choices they seem to be going with. I'll probably take the boar XD Now If only I could be sure that they (with the exception of the wolf) have unlimited duration. Also, anyone else think the ferrets are a bit too similar to the companion scroll?

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...

how about some kind of illusion of a demon
This would be just another way for the DH to be ranged.
This would also stop melee classes from running all up in the DH's bisuness without being careful.
Most of all, this would be interesting.
