This is an update from the previous patch 2.3 build that I made for this Conquest. I've rolled a Crusader this season as my first character so I'm still in the process of gathering Demon Hunter gear, but the points I've updated should stay valid.
I'm not sure on the Focus/Restraint question but I'm siding towards no you can't use it based on the wording of the Conquest.
Just to answer the question you asked - you can *not* use Focus and Restraint. Which makes this a bit more difficult than in previous seasons. Read the description of the conquest; they changed it to the one last time, so it's not saying "no class set bonuses" but actually this time it's "no set items at all". Which simply means: no green items anywhere on your character.
Keep a couple of well-rolled ancient items you come across while playing, and then test out some builds depending on the items you have. The good thing is, since it's not artificially inflated by the ridiculous set bonus multiplicators, you can work out a build on your own as the numbers on skills actually mean anything ;-) And since they removed F+R this time, it's a bit more fun and not as easy (though at a certain point - paragon 500+, gems at 50+, and a few ancient items - it becomes relatively simple again).
As Bagstone mentioned above, the Conquest isn't going to be simple at the start of the season, you're going to need a few ancient items (definitely on the Yang's Recurve), optimised items with damage rolls, higher paragons and higher level gems will help to complete this. I've edited the 3rd gem choice from Gogok to Bane of the Powerful (I didn't realise the damage drop off would be so high, although I did attempt this at a fairly high paragon last season). Bane of the Stricken would also be an option if you're struggling with the Rift Guardian.
It sounds like a strong Hellfire Amulet with a damage passive (Ambush would be the best passive) to get monsters to the 50-60% Dead Man's Legacy double hit might also help. Make sure to cast your Companion Wolf active ability before the Fire Rotation of the Convention of Elements comes around as well to maximise your damage.
If you're playing Softcore or feel like survivability isn't an issue, you could give up Unity and go with Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac, while will allow you to cast Companion more often, and possibly use Preparation - Punishment Rune to spam Multishot more, at the cost of having less mobility from not being able to Vault as much.
I've had really bad luck with drops on my Demon Hunter so far, so I ended up doing the Conquest on my Crusader, but if I end up getting the required gear I'll test it out further.
yeah sadly this is the last one I need for the stash. LOL I was suppose to join my friends playing Blade and Soul, so I guess I was trying to wrap of the stash quest quickly.
I am about paragon 360, but I do not have an ancient Yangs.
Yeah no problem living just not killing faster than the timer. Yeah I was using Ambush and spamming wolf with Zodiac.
I did have a problem running out of Multi-shot that much. I did try Marked for Death with mortal enemy + the dawn/vengence seeth combo almost never run out.
Season 4 The Thrill was so much easier... (lower GR + F/R) I was able to complete the whole journey.

Yea, you are slightly underlvl (I'm guessing that your gems are around in the 40s), so people trying for the conquest now will tend to have a hard time. It becomes a LOT easier once you have lvl 60+ gems, high paragon level, as well as an extra 1500 or so stats from the new cube recipe.
Yeah I'd imagine it'd be more of grind earlier on in the season.
I've yet to try out Lord Greenstone's Fan, but the other issue is that I play on Hardcore as well, and you probably don't want to be allowing that many monsters getting too close to you without strong defensive stats and probably using something like the new Elusive Ring. It sounds like its definitely a viable option in Softcore though!
Oddly I was able to easily do this with just random crap in the end.
Ancient Strafe handbow, bombardier quiver, hexing pant, mantle of channeling, cindercoat cubed dawn/zodiac, rockets passive + engineering, taeguk
Basically I can strafe non-stop in vengeance getting my attack up to about 2.2mil and 22mil tough. The zodiac procs fast so I could quickly spam 5 sentries and wolf howls.

Well anyone have any tips to give about build/skill to use for this achievement ? >.<
Can we use Restraint/Focus for that achievement?

Still no luck with this build.
I was playing season with a Shadow Mantle set so maybe my gear wasn't as good as it could have been.
I had about 960k dmg, with 50-60% fire% dmg. I had all the pieces for the build but I just wasn't doing damage fast enough.
Is this build working for others?

My gems are low 50s. I forgot about that new cube thing where you can add stats! I must try this!
