What's the third gem worth for UE Multi-shot Fire? The value of Iceblink is pretty unclear to me. I happen to have a great Hellfire that is currently rolled to near max crit damage (also has 20% fire, 10% CC), and I'm trying to decide if a socket is worth it.
The 10% crit from Iceblink is clearly worth less than 100% CD, and while the chill from Evasive Fire is nice, I can just use Entangling Shot instead.
Aside: I feel like this warrants its own thread anyway, as it seems pretty janky to me to use Iceblink just because we need a slow applied. I know folks swap this out for BotP or Taeguk in groups too, and I suppose both of those probably beat the CD just on raw numbers, so maybe that answers my question?
The extra CHC is just a bonus. What makes it good is that our best generator EA Focus procs it which in turn procs BotT. And it hits in a wide arc at range plus the CC is nice.
i'm in a situation where i can either have 150d/20%fire or an os on my neck (cd/cc are similar), and if i went with the former, i'd give up a legendary gem (i think would be Iceblink), which in would allow me to let go of BotT/CtW assuming no Sentry:PS
i'm not sure if this is a wise decision, is BotT/CtW extremely important for the UE6 fire build? would another gem/passive be just as good? i know i'm severely undervaluing Iceblink atm, someone tell me i'm dumb!
The fact is that (for fire UE), it's the most reliable way to procc a slow for BotT/Cull the Weak, without sarcificing another skill slot (for sentry, which is still a bit clunky imo). So the question isn't really about the value of the gem itself, but what it enables - if you don't take iceblink, you need a way to procc a slow/chill, which is mostly done with sentry-polar station, but for that you need to give up marked for death or wolf companion, as BotT is way too valuable to give up. From personal experience, it's also incredibly easy to keep it up, comparing to playing with a Taeguk.
Another thing people often disregard is the fact that coming from playing M6 for at least two seasons straight, we lost our multitude of companions that block a lot of monsters and projectiles, and without polar station, we certainly have it harder to kite enemies. Ever had a fast minion pack? You'll love the slow that EF/Focus now provides, against them running at full speed.
Numberswise, the Iceblink is similar to BotP a static increase - from lvl 25 to 50 it's not changing, and so is BotP (disregarding the buff length, as it's prone to fall off during the RG fight at some point anyway). I'm glad wudijo gave us a way to put math behind what I expected to see - for solo, Iceblink is almost a must.
For groups, as long as someone else provides a slow, Iceblink probably takes a hit - but it's not completely useless

I was thinking that a EF:Focus (or Frost Arrow with Krider), cold MS build could be great for damage and CC. Gem with with Iceblink, Zei's, and BoT and you have a super kiting build with good dps.

I think you'll find you'll want to go with the fire MS build simply because the rockets from Arsenal plus the Ballistics passive actually do most of your damage in my experience. Otherwise the setup above as far as gems is perfect. Seems right now that's what all UE builds are doing. Focus is more than enough to advantage of Iceblinks CC capabilities.
