Updated video. This is a 47 solo, in which I spend 1 minute and 45 seconds dead, still complete the grift under time, and the boss takes about ~21 seconds to kill. This is just establishing proof that if I get a fantastic grift and don't die, this build could probably push 50 solo. As it is, I'm having trouble getting keystones that high to try running that level, so I can't farm grifts as much as I'd please.
I don't understand why you would use Focus and Restraint when you can do the 3 Set bonus of Natalya which gives 20 discipline = 200% damage increase on skills affected by the set. Am I missing something?
Because there's no room for nats. You'd have to use nats ring and RoRG, then replace one of your MS pieces with Nats AND use nats weapon.
Actually, it's because the 200% discipline is an additive bonus, the 150% focus+restraint is multiplicative. If you were going to use nats, you'd use the ring and any other Nats piece with RORG. It's just not as good as focus+restraint
I get it now thanks, would be nice to have these kind of details such as additive and multiplicative written somewhere but oh well. Thanks.
I've always wished Blizzard would add the actual damage range for every skill, when you mouse over it. The skill would still show the % weapon damage and everything else, but somewhere on the tooltip would be the 9,450,000 - 87,550,000 range for the skill. This would make it LOADS easier for everyone who doesn't run spreadsheets to figure out exactly how much damage was gained when they add / remove a piece of gear. Oh well, I can keep wishing D=
Hey I've been playing with the same build since the beginning of PTR, it's a lot of fun. I've been waiting for a build with Hungering Arrow that works since the beginning of D3 vinilla as HA has always been my favorite skill in the game. I have much better gear than your on PTR and does a bit more damage as a consequence, so I think this build could go much higher in GRift.
Unfortunely I think it's pretty obvious Focus/Restraint are gonna get nerfed to the ground pretty soon as Blizzard said they didint want Generators Only build...
I'm going to have to disagree with you. I think they would retain the power of bastions of will as it can absolutely compete with our usual ring combinations. it may get nerfed but just a little bit, hopefully.
Thanks for all the support! I'm currently working to find a better Buriza, preferably ancient, in addition to better copies of the Basions Will set. I also am testing out which legendary gem fits the third slot best. Once I've found better gear, I shall start to attempt 46's and 47's, and hopefully work my way up to grift 50. If anyone else is playing around with the set, and has found some information regarding gems or other interesting ways to set this build up will skills, I'd love to have additional input from all of you! Thanks again for the resounding support. It's inspired me to refine the build to perfection.
That's actually a really good idea. In combination with the 7.5-10% chance to freeze from Buriza itself, you could get some pretty solid control simply as a bonus.
After giving Zei's a chance, it's a nice damage buff. I saw a 1 billion crit against a rift boss, and the stun is a nice bonus. Before Zeis I hadn't seen over about 800m. I also saw quite a few more 600m and 700m crits. I still need to find an ancient Buriza, but without the extra drop rate bonus, it's probably gonna take a while. All in all, I hope this build doesn't get nerfed cause it's the most fun I've had playing DH in a long time.
Does anyone have some interest in getting a group together, (two hungering arrow DH's, a stundoc and crusader) want to try pushing high 4-man grifts with this new build? We can get some testing of the highest grifts and see if it's competitive in a group scenario. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
Since you're running Zei's now, I would recommend using Haunt of Vaxo as amulet (if you have a good one)
Every 15 seconds when Zei proc's stun, 2 shadow DHs will help you out. I'm running it now with my cold build. Useful. Overall the shadow DHs do about 10% of your damage (from what I've read) and have a chance to proc Marked for Death

I have been running with this HoV for a long time now, since nothing I came across/crafted could beat those stats. I can confirm that the proc from zei is frequent enough to keep the uptime close to 100%, but I doubt the dps bonus from clones are that strong. Here's a link listing the clone abilities. The abilties are randomly cycled and unpredictable/unreliable to come up with an average number. If you found one while levelling, the item is imba but in end game setup it is merely a toy. And the Mfd they use is similar to the aoe version but somehow not that strong enough to be noticable and it's too random. The great thing about clones is they generate agro and they go ahead of you and indicate the direction of mobs, which I find quite handy, especially in cave-like maps..
I replaced companion with Cluster Arrow: Dazzling Arrow to trigger the second half of Focus+Restraint. It's still very viable, and you can see that in my solo 46 grift.
Updated build guide and solo video. This build is absolutely still viable, and it's still not hitting its max potential. If I had access to more high keystones, I'd be able to push 50.

how the hell did u kill him so fast? what is your dps 3milion ???????
"Do you guys not have phones?"
Even with Focus/Restraint and a ton of Discipline, how does this work....?
I can't understand how all this damage is working out....
Nice, too bad buzria does not allow missiles to use it's piercing. I can understand though as it would be incredibly broken.
Nice theory crafting and execution though.
You're a wizard Harry.....

Haha I don't know either, but it works pretty damn well.
Great Vid man. Good to see a guy I know come up with a great build!

I must agree, the build really looks very interesting.

As soon as I can, I'm gonna see if I can roll a third socket into my jewelry so I can try that.

Thank you. I really enjoyed the video, and it was very well made and informative :-)
