Hey, this topic is indeed really good (good enough to make me create an accout :p ) and it is really interesting.
I have never done real theorycraft such as this and i don't like to use a build i do not understand and agree with. So Basically, there is few things i do not understand in your math/writting.
First point is Evasive Fire, how can Evasive Fire do as much as damage in physical & cold. Since it's a cold spell, it should do 40% more damage ( you put in 40% elemental damage) and according to your video, you use this spell not as frequently as CA but you still do.
Then, i don't really know the output damage of the sentry, companion but basically, companion is physical so +40 (in physical) and sentry is cold (polar station) so +40% on AA too. So, with physical you lose damage on Evasive Fire + Sentry but win on companion, does the increase on companion and Cluster Arrow compensate it?
Last point about theorycraft, i made some test because i couldn't get it why Shooting stars was stronger than Malestrom if you do basic math as
(450% x 5) * 100% vs (600% * 3) * 100% // Maelstrom win, so i made some in game test and i noticed on single target some rocket of Maelstrom just missed and goes away, so your math made sense (yeah you're welcome :p ).
So my question is why your "total accuracy loss" is the same for physical and cold // and how often does rocket miss against a boss for exemple
Hope i was clear enough for you to understand and thanks for the answer
Alright, here is the YT version of my second tier 52 run, including sound: Tier 52 - Era 2
A little offtopic, but I have also uploaded videos of my hardcore conquests there (2xrank 2, 2xrank 3, all solo), check them out if you're curious! Unfortunately I couldn't stream them because I kept lagging during the weekend. So far it's looking quite good on the hc ladder though =)
Just quickly wanted to share with you my latest video. Last night I managed to beat tier 45 on my hardcore DH, which currently is the only clear on that level. I thought that is quite notable because it is only 3 tiers lower than the highest clear of season 1 and it's only 1 week after the release of the season. On a personal note, I have also surpassed my previous record with this run, because last season my highest clear was only tier 45 as well, as I went straight for 48-50 after that and so closely missed it. Enjoy.
@hehomar: Your Calamity is really good, it's worth to try it out. Note that for fast GRs the damage boost is not as important though. With 3 dps in your party, it will probably be better than the Xbow.
15% cold is pretty sad, I guess Xbow will be better in most cases. The calculations were done assuming 20% cold and ~equal damage rolls (which I think you have), and then Etrayu turned out about as good as the physical builds. For cold, just try both and you'll see.
Also i have some good arcane barbs ( more than 3.1k dps without rcr).
In your opinion for solo grifting (42+ ) should i go with the 2hand or the calamity ?
Something that noone menthioned is that if people who play hc dont want to go crazy glass cannon you can keep vit on weapon instead of rcr and lose the vit on quiver getting rcr. Since its harder to get an ancient quiver a weapon can give up to 1k vit. So we can end with 8% rcr quiver , 1k vit on weapon and maximize a bit more our survivability. I just got yesterday a quiver like that and i was pretty happy ;p
To keep this thread a go-to destination for everyone interested in the physical cluster build, I'll just keep posting here. I'll also edit all the videos into the OP to make them more easily accessible, and plan to add a FAQ there as well.
My latest upload is a Kridershot + Taeguk demo, inspired by this thread on the official forums, where it was suggested to make Krider EA work with Taeguk because apparently it's difficult to keep it up for some, but it can be done if you do it right.
@veletz: Usually I recommend to just use the weapon with the best rolls, because they are so close math-wise. Gearing priorities don't change for sc or hc, other than that you might want to stack a little more toughness (which I won't do for solo regardless). While we're at it, I'm currently preparing for my tier 50 solo run on hc, and then I got this: QQ
Edit: Can't edit the OP right now... changes are saved and I'm waiting for a fix.
It looks like it is an issue with ’ as this falls out of the allowed unicode range. We are working to allow all the other forms of punctuation now. Until that gets deployed I replaced all ’ with ' and you are now good to edit!
However I'm a bit confused reading the spreadsheet, I don't really get what where to find out about how good a Calamity, Kridershot etc. is. I don't even see them in the sheetts (?). Can you put up a link in google docs (read only) so we can copy it and play around with the stats to understand what all there numbers are coming from?
Another topic - gems. I'm at the moment using my cold build, using BoT, BoP and Zei's, but when I play fast 35s in group or T6 in general I don't seem to get any use of the Zei's. You recommend using Enforcer but you never tell why, can't figure it out.
First of all, thanks for all the work you've done However I'm a bit confused reading the spreadsheet, I don't really get what where to find out about how good a Calamity, Kridershot etc. is. Thanks for everything though ^^
As is described in the FAQ by now, I usually recommend to use the best rolled weapon, with a tendency to go for Xbow if you do a lot of speed runs or have people spawning globes for you (unless you have zero dog, where 1h becomes better). Zei's is always useful and should never be replaced, in fact it is the one and only gem I have never unsocketed after patch 2.1.2. If anything, you should replace BotT for speed runs, Enforcer is bad for speed runs and might be useful in high GRs with a lot of damage buffs or in trials.
As much as I'd like to, I can't put up the spreadsheet for now because it will be probably be abused by my (and my clan's) competition. You can still find a lot of the information in the posts or discussions, especially regarding gearing priorities.
Hope im not ressing the post. But I have a quick question, I found a Andariel Visage with 18%cold dmg and 13%CA (+dex+CC). Should I change for Marauder's hat and Hex pants anyway? Thanks in advance. (If you can please check my battletag for some advice ^^)
I would assume, without doing the math, that the loss of Prides Fall / Hexing Pants results in a higher loss of Resource Cost Reduction (=Fewer CAs) than can be offset by up to 20% ele dmg. Remember, that for Cold you may have 20% on Bracers + 20% on Etrayu, which is already 40%. The 20% on top of that would lead to "diminishing returns" as to the way dmg. is multiplied.
As too your gear: I know it is hard to get a amu with Dex / Ele + CC + CHD rolls, or otherwise allows for a Socket. Yet, A socket with a third Gem, Taeguk, will indeed give you another boost. Otherwise, your main hand is the weakest spot of your build. Remember, as for any class where you have limited resources (i.e. for us DH) you need to max the dmg. per hatred spent. Unless you have a well rolled ancient Calamity, 1h Xboxs are simply garbage. Craft an ancient Arcane Barb. Otherwise, until you find a WH for belt, a blackthorn belt + amu would give you quite some eHP in the meantime.
