Does anyone know of an in-depth guide to how rockets work? For example, does anyone know if rockets fired from Maelstrom at a rift boss will actually hit the boss? Or do rockets only seek out enemies beyond the additional target? If so, would it be more effiencent to fire at a wall, and have the 5 rockets find the boss on their own?
maelstrom hits only one mob per rocket, so if you have 5 mbs pack, they will be hit with granade and each might get hit by one rocket, if you have one mob, he will be hit with granade and only one rocket, and other rockets are wasted
maelstrom build is the best if you solo or party does not have gather support player (crus or monk), but if you have gatherer, loaded for bear is much better becuase all granades hit all mobs, so even one mob will get hit by all granades
By all means fire builds currently kick ass - CA/LftB or MS/Arsenal. If you want rocket, pick MS/Arsenal instead of CA/Maelstrom to benefit both from Cidercoat+fire element and ballistics.
Cold builds are too limited in weapon choice (an almost perfect Etrayu is hardly on par with an average 2Hcrossbow) and elemental bonus options.
You can always pick sentry/polar station regardless of the build/element if you need the CC. As a matter of fact elements of runes other than the main spender are irrelevant now. I see many fire DHs running with evasive fire/focus (cold) just because it has the highest hatred gain, while several other cold DHs preferring entangling shot/justice is served due to its sometimes handy CC
For T6 I prefer Maelstrom to LfB. With ballistics the rockets are too good, you just fire a cluster arrow at the highest HP mob and watch your rockets swarm and wipe out all of the trash on the screen. It's true that you can get an extra elemental roll in a fire build from cindercoat and I wouldn't use an Etrayu either but I find the massive AoE of all those rockets makes up for lesser elemental damage when you have trash mobs scattered all over the place. For group Grifts I would run fire for sure though since the support should be gathering the mobs up nice and tight.
"Maelstrom better at AoE than Lftb" might not actually be as true; When you get a habit of placing sentries at a certain distance form each other (which would be the case for optimum benefit from Zei's Stone also), the CA/Lftb mirrors aim for closest targets, which is actually similar to what rockets do, even better with fewer targets since all damage is aimed at smt hostile rather than wasting the unmatched ones to the air.
For T6, Maelstrom is definitely better. You want a better damage spread when enemies are spread apart, which is what maelstorm does. For Grifts, if you have enemies pulled together, obviously Loaded for bear is better. For solo Grifts, its debatable.

Are they better than Multishot/Arsenal for T6 ? ( Hi Ras! )

Hey machado, long time no see. I've tried arsenal and I do think Maelstrom its better for T6. It's easier to keep up hatred with Arsenal but on T6 Hatred isnt an issue. You get enough back from globes/bat/punishment.
