So, I had a pretty good shotgun build with perma AC, then started running into survival issues on 30+ GR's and simply relied on DH's to get me through. Really annoying to say the least. Being in mele range was brutal. So I got a HeartSlaughter with +30 phys (still no Furnace...*sigh*), and figured I'd give stampede a go. I'm loving it. I can actually contribute and my DH buddy much prefers it when we duo. Im not an amazing player by any means, but am getting stuck around GR32-34+ solo. I could run Dual unity, but it's a large dps loss, and I want to be viable in groups as well. Any suggestions? I have a gift I could use on my HeartSlaughter, but not sure if it's worth it as the dps on it is a bit low (no socket). I also have a RoJ with CDR I could take the Holy Dmg off of and re-roll to a socket (452str, 28% ED, 8CDR)...but don't know if it's worth the use of the gift to replace my RoRG and Leorics in order to keep perma AC.
I have a phys SOJ with 50chd, 450+str, 15 phys, and 28/29ED (a pretty great roll actually other than only 15% phys). Problem is without it having CDR, I have to keep RoRG and Leorics AND put CDR on my weapon with the gift. If I get rid of the Compass Rose I'll lose the bonus 50% chd and 698 Vit (I'm already incredibly low in this build on HP [is this norm for stampede?], which makes me nervous - I don't know how people run this without wrathful...no healing otherwise...?)
For the weapon, already re-rolled vit into socket, so it'd be rolled into either CDR or %dmg - and if I use above referenced SOJ, It'd have to be the CDR. If it's not worth using gift on, though, then I guess I'll just farm til I can get a better one or a furnace (*holds breath, turns blue, passes out*).
Ultimately, I guess it really comes down to either getting a better SOJ and/or Unity with CDR OR a weapon worthy of my gift (unless another gift drops).
For wrath, I'm almost never starved until it comes to guardian...and even then it's at about 60% health once my cycle of provoke and law get out of sync. Depending on the boss, though, it's almost always manageable when dodging various mechanics which allows time for regen.
Quite a bit of rambling here...but I've thought a lot about it and can't figure another way out...managing CDR with legendary gems through a major wrench into my previous re-rolls on gear (though I think they're a great addition to game mechanics).
This may be a dumb question, but I have a near perfect Sultan of Binding Sand (4,065.6 dps; 10% dmg; 978str. 6%IAS, 21% chance to blind, 3.1% chance to knock back). How can i determine if this is significantly better than the 30% increased physical dmg from my heartslaughter which only has 3167.3 dps, and 1125 str?
Mouse over "Physical Damage Bonus" in the extended details of your inventory screen, then compare it with each weapon equipped. If the Sultan is missing a socket, temporarily remove the gem from the other weapon to compare.
So far it's working well. I switched to the CDR leg gem, put a hellfire amulet in for long arm of the law and upped my chd on my rings and dropped CDR on them. Had a much easier time today. The blind/knock back on the sultan is very handy. I'm trying to figure out if it synergies with zealous glare. Or if the blind Dmg increase only comes from shield glare blind. Anybody know? Either way, far and above where I was before with a few changes. I was anti the CDR leg gem until leveling it up and ushing it tonight. That plus long arm of the law gave me huge increased AS AND I never has wrath issues.
Drop Wrathful(it gets worse the less your stampede costs from Law / Akarats) and get Holy Cause(or if dying Indestructible)
Drop Shield Glare for Iron Skin - Steel Skin(I think) it absorbs 50% of all dmg for 7 sec(with normal CDR its like 75% uptime) - I guess if you aren't doing things that hurt this is worthless but you should use this for higher GRs
I'll give that a go and see how it works. I can't get how people get around no healing in their passive and use indestructible, though; i tried it and i was dying way more than with a healing passive (am I missing something here?). 75% up-time on iron skin sounds awesome to compensate with the reduced healing of holy cause over wrathful. TBH, wrathful has remained fantastic healing for me even with reduced wrath cost of stampede...especially now that i have the IAS and CDR legendary gem.
Only downside of this switch may be that I was trying to synergize zealous glare's 20% dmg increase with Sultan's blind effect...anybody know if the "blind" in Zealous glare must come from shield glare or if it can come from other sources - i.e. Sultan's proc?
Healing really shouldn't be much of an issue since the only mobs besides the rift guardian that should ever even have a chance at getting in your melee range is a Elite because they aren't knocked back by the stampede. Everything but those 2 mobs should be slammed against a wall until it dies. Shield glare is alright but yo u can't waste a second every 5 seconds shield glaring its not really a dps increase in later rifts. You are better off using Iron Skin so you don't have to move as much and spam Horses more.
Swap your Templars last talent while fighting for a burst heal and swap it back to wrath regen. No reason not to intentionally proc Akarat Prophet before it gets refreshed for a full heal.
Also, Yes the blind from the Glare is the only way to get that dmg buff.
Also, crit dmg gem is worthless on your follower. They cap at 150% crit dmg(they get 50% base) so just get 100% on the relic and get max IAS, CC, Str on the rest of its gear.

Right, but (sorry, noob question)...I can't seem to find a formula that makes sense to me to do the math real quick. Know any?
