Today I wanted to make a video on what I consider to be the optimal solo Crusader holy shotgun spec. I talk about the build's limitations in solo/group, proper playstyle, turning yourself and your templar into mini pull monks (Condemn/Vacuum + Ess of Johan), and gear optimizations.
In this video I go over the build, gear, paragon points, and solo a T6 rift. Enjoy!
Haven't had a chance to watch thew video yet, but wondering, is a Holy Shotgun build relevant without a FotF or is it mandatory to make the build useful
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
There is only one god and his name is Death.
And there is only one thing we say to Death. Not today.

Well, I think Shotgun build is only then really useful, when you get ALL the items you need for it.
But Fate of the Fell is definitely the most important item, since it IS the shotgun. Right now 1 of my beams does 50mill crits. With FotF I suddenly do 3x50m for the same resource cost.
I dont know I just got a Fate to drop and converted to holy shotgun. It jumped me from T2 to T3 If I could get some Akahan or A Royal Ring I would be moving up faster sure but to make it a useful build all you really need is some cooldown/wrath regen and the right build with the FotF to start and it makes a BIG difference.
I am sure once you get all the required gear you can be doing T6 easy but speaking as someone who does not have a lot of time to play but enjoys it when I do the FotF is mandatory to the build but once you have it.... you can feel the difference.

Its mandatory and the reason its called the shotgun build is because when you fire it at something at point blank range it f*cks sh*t up. The reason for this is the blast emanates from a point in front of you, with FoTF it adds two extra blasts that emanate from the same starting point but fork out in different directions. The strength is each blast can land on a single target from point blank range, which is why its so shitty in solo play and so incredibly strong with a pull monk, the next best options being wd and piranha's or a wiz and BH. When stacking the blasts on a single target when they all crit the attack becomes a spammable nuke doing in the hundreds of millions of dmg. However, IMO the build also requires the 6set bonus form akkahns to have the build truly work. a FotF isn't enough because of wrath starvation.

You can't really do the holy shotgun build without FoTF AND full Akkhan set because of the resource cost. As you're progressing, you're better off going fire FoH or Blessed Shield build until T4 or so. Once you get full set then switch to shotgun - that's what I did, otherwise it'll be too painful.

Exactly, watch the video. I explain the origin point concept and how all 3 beams can hit 1 target, giving you basically 2700% weapon damage that you can spam.
