I am pretty much completely new to D3, never played this type of game before but played multiple MMORPG's (WoW, SWTOR, Warhammer etc).
I have decided to role a Crusader due to being the most "up my street" kind of character and i am following guides builds etc to make sure i become competent at 70 and can carry on with end game content.
But i just wanted to really check with the veterans if their are any pearls of wisdom that i should take on board? what materials to hold onto or gems etc i just don't want to waste any time/money/resources now that might be needed later on.
Any advice would be greatfully received, i am pouring through the stickies at the moment, but have found sometimes someone might have something that works for them which they might not have shared.
Thanks both Heltah and Etneet, that was exactly the sort of advice i was after, i know as i go through the game i will pick up on lots of things but just through experience with other MMO's i was not sure how important it is to keep hold of resources through the game.
I have read a lot about playing the difficulty i am capable of rather than struggling through higher settings so for sure will take this on board.
Even if Crusader is a support class that is fine as being a veteran MMO player i generally like working in groups with end game content, but prefer to solo until that point so sounds like i will not be worse off taking Crusader over anything else (leveled all toons to lvl 10 before settling on Crusader).
I think it will just take me some time before i am proficient with specs and their situational use, but that is all part of the fun of playing the game in the first place.
Just keep in mind that it's not a MMO. The game is fully designed to be soloable, ALL content of it. Every class can solo all content. Also you can not trade, there is no auction house etc. Also there is no PVP that would be worth mentioning.
I'd suggest playing trough the campagne mode once to get the story. If you like it, maybe a second time too. Once you finished campaign mode, you'll unlock adventure mode. Which is probably more like the endgame you expect.
Endgame is pretty much doing the same thing over and over again on higher difficulties. Maybe that is for you, then enjoy it Others prefer leveling all the classes or doing some other self-imposed challenges. But enjoy your journey there first before worrying about it.
Thanks Twoflower, yeah the main reason i want to get into D3 is because of the ability to play as and when i can.
MMO's are great until you have a family then you just cant put that sort of regimented time into them so i am hoping D3 will give me as immersive experience without the minimum 4 nights of week raiding to progress :-)
Thanks again Heltah, you may find a message from me in the not to distant future :-)
