Seen the new legendary gems and with some theorycrafting I think they maybe want one build to come back:WW/Permazerk!
How:It would be really hard to get to it, but imagine:
Taeguk
Gain 1% increased damage for 4 seconds after spending primary resource. This effect stacks up to 10 times. Gaining a stack refreshes all existing stacks.
Upgrade rank grants: +1 max stack.
Rank 50 unlocks: Gain 1% increased Armor for every stack.
Note: This buff duration on this gem was chosen so that it’s easier to keep up with cheap spenders and not trivial with expensive spenders.
This one obviously work very well with WW, with a nice AS it would be easy to achieve 60% +DMG and +Armor at rank 50. I saw someone posting an WW/Rend physical build that have great survivability, paired with perma CoTA for fury gen (and also phys dmg)
Gogok of Swiftness
50% chance on hit to gain Swiftness, increasing your Attack Speed by 2% for 3 seconds. This effect stacks up to 10 times.
Upgrade rank grants: +1% chance.
Rank 50 unlocks: Gain 2% Cooldown Reduction per stack of Swiftness.
This is where Permazerk comes into place, with a good amount of CDR on gear, this extra 20% at rank 50+ could allow perma WoTB andsynergies very well with the first gem: more AS - faster fury spent (Taeguk proc) / dmg with WW, faster CoTA (more fury gen).
Stats:Aside of the general dps (Str, CHC, CHD and AS), the mitigation would rely on high VIT, as our main dmg skills would also recover 1% from max life per hit (WW/Bloodfunnel) and 0.5% per enemy (Rend/Bloodlust).
Gear:Weapons are a subject for testing, but I can come up with some possibilities:
- Sunkeeper/Doombringer: Classic +elite/+phys dmg, no more.
-Bul-Kathos's Oath: Well, the synergy with WW is obvious, and now as on 2.1, it WILL be affected by +%physical dmg
-Istvan's Paired Blades: +30% AS with 5 stacks, this would make you a BRUTAL AS (along with the Gogok's +20% AS)
- Thunderfury/Odyn's (Or any other weapon with proc): We wouldnt stack elemental for the procs, but as we would be dealing so many attacks, this could be and option.
Other equip:
Didn't thought much about that, but maybe it should be mandatory some CDR stuff like Born's and Crimson's sets for permazerk and IK set:
- Born's: Shoulder and Chest;
- IK's: Gloves, Helmet and Belt;
-Crimson: Pants and and Boots.
Remember that I am aiming at Greater Rifts, so we need toughness as our damage should get buffed by other mechanics (+25% from Hexing pants, +20% AS from Gogok, +XX% DMG from Taeguk and so on..)
This is exactly what I was thinking just last night and discussing with some viewers on stream. Obviously only speculation at this point as testing needs to take place, but let's hope WW is back!
Awesome build, but I would switch out the Bloodlust rune on Rend with something like Bloodbath, Lacerate or even Ravage. And also Ground Stomp with War Cry or Battle Rage! Other than that it looks really awesome!
In lower GRs other rend runes could work, but in the higher ones I thing more mitigation/healing would be necessary.
Ground Stomp seems really critical imo for WW builds, as we are moving at 75% movement speed, pulling the enemies closer is crucial, otherwise you would end up having to move a lot to hit fleeing enemies (off course you can change it for both war cry or battle rage if group playing with pull-monk).
Perma wotb cannot be achieved. The reason is that boon of bul'kathos is taken into account before any CDR. 60-70% uptime is attainable but the cost is prohibitive.
WW is viable at GR 30+ with a lightning build with raekor and IK full set bonuses, along with odyn and soh/tf. Group mobs with charge, WW away, regroup, WW away, regroup, WW away... play with COTA 's together as one rune for extra survivability. aim for 20% CDR to perma-charge while hitting only 4 mobs.
You'd need the gem to make your pets unkillable, the 'conduit gem', and possibly taeguk. Gogok is sub-par in this configuration, as we don't need CDR. Gogok cannot compete with the gems above.
There you go, a GR 30+ WW build. Most enjoyable barbarian build, to be honest. Not the most powerful, though, yet well balanced. try it out.
