I'm surprised no one has mentioned the delay of the leap now on the female barb, it drives me crazy personally lol. I feel like earthquake took a hard nerf this patch.
Yep... Sometimes I just don't get Blizzard, they see people having fun in there game and there like NO! Why? It's clear that almost nobody enjoyed the quake set on the male barb because it felt slow, delayed and stupid and then the female animation comes along and wam everyone is having more fun... If anything they should of brought the male barb up to scratch with the female, not the other way around...
This wasn't an overpowered thing, hell there's argument for the male one being better because slower animations meant you would keep the targets stunned for longer and both got 3 leaps down this was simply the fact that the build doesn't feel right with a delayed, sluggish leap. I was excited about this patch what with the tuning to make higher difficulties more worthwhile and now it just feels like the games taken a step backwards for me...
what? so instead of buffing the male barb, they nerfed the female? really?
Yep. The build feels pretty clunky now between this change and the lack of fury generation from earthquake, and it definitely does a lot less damage. On the positive side the change to the fire rune for seismic slam makes it actually pretty fantastic and a solid way to get the strongarm debuff on targets (assuming it works - haven't tested it carefully, but it seems to). The downside, of course, is that seismic slam is much less efficient than HotA and the net difference in damage may actually be worse especially for dual wielding. Now that earthquake isn't generating fury anymore you can't simply devote all your energy into converting fury into damage between leap cycles, so switching over from HotA to SS is a little counter-intuitive... but might be okay?
I'm reserving judgement on the overall impact until I see what other players come up with and if Blizzard decides to backpedal on this one - not terribly unlikely given that no one even knew the behavior was a bug until it was "fixed" today.
holy fuck earthquake is still the best aoe and single target spell. stop complaining.
I don't understand the arrogance of some people and the need to be a forum warrior. We're simply stating eq took a huge hit today and I wont run the build anymore its THAT bad.
It would of been nice if they made male as fast as female but you have to admit it is unfair that Barbs are currently the most viable char over the majority of difficulties. I'm not trying to rage or put you guys down, but as a player who only plays male chars (due to a small role playing perspective of these types of games) you would have to give blizz a pass on this as it makes it fairer overall.
I agree, I stated in a post previously which was titled "best classes in the game" that I hoped the others would be buffed apart from WD as they were already above Barb imo. The problem really is the fact that this change makes the game less fun for all those that have put in the effort to get this build and there lies the problem for me, why? Fix the IK bug cus it's broken and makes T6 to easy fine, maybe even the earthen might fix was an attempt to get people be a little bit more varied with there builds who knows... But all this change does is make the game less fun and that I simply don't understand.
It's almost like the techs at Blizzard arn't aware of what the community want or what's fun in the game, they simply get something come down the pipeline that says "female barb leap animation faster than male" so they go "k, fixed." without any thought on if this is the right thing to do.
nope my earthquake still hitting for 80 mil x 3 a tick from the three earthquakes. hence why i said stop bitching in my previous statement.
anyone who says barb is bad is bad themselves. i find it so easy its boring.
80 mil x 3? The number you see appear is a sum of all the quakes ticks put together not each individual quakes ticks... also "I find it so easy its boring" I find that hard to believe as atm it's almost impossible to farm T6 efficiently as a barb in fact I think the only class that can do it solo is a WD.
Does it really? have you tested out? You are imply blizzard stealth nerfed EQ which could be huge. Anyone else experienced the same thing?
I meant the build, not the spell. Earthquake itself is obviously unchanged.
Reaper's Wraps + anything that increases max fury is an interesting workaround that allowed me to go back to spamming HotA as much as I wanted, but you do have to give stuff up - some damage from Strongarm and possibly a passive or two to get it online. It's slightly lower damage than pre-patch, but it's not all that bad, actually. I'm not really a fan of this solution in general, but that's more because I don't like how Reaper's Wraps have become a go to item for so many builds across so many classes. Beyond those reservations it does work reasonably well.
Right now I'm just trying out the silly mass-cooldown build Alkaizer has been doing since it's got high mobility and is about as mindlessly easy to play as possible. Hexing pants increase the fury generated from hitting targets with leap by quite a lot, although I'm not actually spending fury on anything but sprint with that build so it's a bit of a moot point.
I don't like Reaper's Wrap because it kinda requires mobility (WhirlWind) or a bit of pickup radius, unless you are playin in groups. I would much rather use the bracer slot for strongarm or aughild. Just my opinion though.
I think Hexing pants would work wonders as a workaround, but you will loose the ability to go 4 piece, which means you will HAVE to use RoRG, which means you will have to give up either unity or soj. Plus if you go Hexing pants you will have to strafe spam HotA, which I think its kinda annoying.
If I were to use Hexing pants I would probably just go WW and don't have to worry about fury, yea I loose a bit of dps but EQ+kite itself is still powerful enough to melt elites in T6, just not as fast as before without HotA
Leapquake barb is 100% okay. Its on par with the other builds, I have 0 Fury issues, and it offers a LOT of gear flexibility that 5pc Raekors does not (and different slots than IK which is excellent).
I don't find the animation change particularly annoying, but that's probably because I have played 90% of my time as a male barbarian.
Welp... Take a look at the blue tracker, blizz is going to buff both male and female to a pointfaster than the original female leap animation! Looks like that is going to be quite fun with the lut socks.

So, we should be grateful that "in a future patch" likely months away there going to revert the change? Excuse me for not being thankful that they will fix an issue that was only caused because they didn't bother to look at the communities opinion before doing it in the first place. What they should do, is a quick revert of the female barbs leap animation so we can all go back to what we was doing and a promise of a buff for the male barb in a future patch but instead we now have to wait months just so we can go back to what we was doing last patch...
Leapquake barb, let's get it fixed!I am of course talking about the leap animation. The earthen might fix wasn't all that bad, you can find ways around it. For bad players you are going to learn to adapt, even I admit the fury return was far to good.Anyhow, my real frustration was the animation "tweak" blizzard did instead of making male barbs up to snuff with female barbs they just put a small delay during leaps. To most people and trolls this doesn't make sense to them? Why?
We're really grateful for the feedback regarding this change, and I'd like to provide some insight regarding why this change came to pass in this manner.
The animations between the male and female Barbarian for Leap is something that's been different for quite some time, since the original Diablo III release in fact. Of course, the difference wasn't very noticeable as, at the time, you couldn'tLeapmultiple times back to back.
With the introduction ofLut Socks, this magnified the previously unnoticed difference, and we agreed that we needed to fix it to make sure both animations were completing at the same time and therefore performing equally. We do agree the fix went in the wrong direction, and as a result you'll see a change in a future patch where both Barbarian genders will Leap at not only a faster pace than the current implementation, but faster than the original female animation.

The hexing pants build I was using was rather silly and didn't spend fury at all. It's just the silly "take every single long cooldown" build, plus might of the earth and lut socks, basically. Pop cooldowns, spam leap, run around waiting to do it again. It's silly as hell, but it actually works reasonably well. Your greatest nemesis isn't even a monster - it's doors.
As for the blue response - well, quite frankly it's basically best case scenario. Not only is it getting fixed, but it'll be even faster than it was before! The downside, of course, is that it's coming "in a future patch," which could be as far away as 2.1. Seeing as 2.1 is going to have a whole host of other changes and probably some balance changes it's hard to say whether it'll even be relevant anymore.
