Recently I've been using a build that revolves around the Bloodshed rune for Battle Rage. It's actually quite a fun build. At the moment I'm using it with two 1-handed weapons, the attack speed is nice to have (especially considering I don't have a lot of life steal). I'm yet to try it out with a 2-handed weapon so I can't guarantee it will work with one, hell it might work even better with a 2-hander!
The skills I use to support it, followed by some points on why I chose that particular skill: Cleave: Broad Sweep
- I use Broad Sweep because Bloodshed deals 20% of the damage done, so pretty much more damage being dealt = more damage being dealt from the Bloodshed proc.
- If we can increase the amount of targets being hit then we can increase the effect that Bloodshed has on surrounding enemies, also we're damaging more enemies. So it's two birds with one stone.
HotA: Smash
- I use this purely for left over single-target mobs or for bosses. But this also works very well with the Bloodshed rune.
- Of course there's no reason why this can't be used at the primary skill other than the issue with fury, because we're not using Into the Fray it's not easy to be able to use HotA all the time.
WarCry: Impunity
- Useful for not only the resistance buffs but for a sudden gain of Fury when it's needed.
Battle Rage: Bloodshed
- Great for taking out large sums of monsters.
Leap: Call of Arreat
- Great for getting out of sticky situations and jumping over gaps, but those are really just bonuses.
- To get the most effect out of Bloodshed is to use this as often as possible when fighting big packs of monsters.
- Bloodshed is almost double as effective when the mobs are bunched up, plus it looks awesome!
WotB: Slaughter
- Because you can't spell Slaughter without laughter, hur hur hur.
- But seriously, I use this when I encounter elites and champion monsters. It's absolutely amazing and works in addition to Bloodshed. It cuts down the time to kill elites and champions considerably.
Passives: Ruthless:
- The Crit chance and damage received from this is almost a must for this build.
Weapons Master:
- This passive is debatable. I go with this passive because I benefit from the crit chance bonus from my weapons. But of course depending on your weapons, this passive may not be advisable.
Bloodthirst:
- I use this only because I don't have a high amount of Life steal. If you have a nice amount of life steal don't use this passive, use something else, like Brawler. Which would work great with this build.
Thank you for your time and I hope this helps convince some players that there isn't a one-and-only build that should be taken to have fun with the game.
This build works great for me in solo runs at MP 7. In group runs, not so much as the damage output is quite low But I guess that depends on your gear.
Cheers guys.
