I made it back to inferno act 2 way back in august after D3 released and have not played since. I'd like to get playing again but have NO IDEA how to gear these days.

I have about 300 million to get going.

    Thank's for your help!

Basically Crit, critical hit damage is king. Cheapest good weapon you can get is a Skorn (should probably dedicate 70-80 million. Immortal kings tribal binding together with a immortal kings eternal reign is a good place to start aswell. Get a cheap mempo of twilight with 9% attack speed, a cheap vile ward with 200+str and 100+ vita and 75 or so resists. Attack speed should be at least 18% + if you're planning on running the whirlwind build (easiest to do tbh with limited cash). innas temperance on legs ..get a cheap version, its still awesome dps, lacuni prowler bracers can be bought pretty cheap and will give you another 12% movement speed,(and haste..and some crit)combine those with some ice climbers boots for good hp and you're rolling. Rings are pretty much expensive no matter what you're going for..but try getting some with crit and crit damage with at least a small portion of strenght. If you get the cash later on, consider switching out tribal bindings with a witching hour and use immortal kings irons (gloves) for set bonus instead. Amulets with a nice portion of str, crit, crit damage can be pretty cheap. Try getting good resists on -Shoulders-Chest-Belt (if you're using IK)-Headslot-boots at least,..or you'll be on the low side. Try keeping hp at least 45k aswell for higher mps. You can get a complete set for 300 mill and still have 200k+ damage if you buy smart budget versions of these items

So I took your advice and went and bought all the pieces you suggested. Here is how he looks now. I went through Inferno with no MP and literally walked through everything with zero issues.

I will step it up tonight and to MP1. Also, what route do you guys suggest farming? I got The Key of Destruction last night, pretty rare drop for MP0. Also, I went with this WW spec and it was super fun. Thank's again for the advice in advance.

I usually go Festering Woods, you'll get 4 or 5 stacks of NV there in under 10 min..then head for fields of misery afterwards. I suggest you switch out your headslot gem with an amethyst one, the % life is just so much more valuable than the exp. And choose mp4 at least..you got the gear for that. If you're doing WW build, use Rend instead of ignore pain (if you're having problems with Hp, choose bloodlust rune with rend for amazing hp regen). sprint with "run like the wind" is also a must for a ww build. If you do things right, wrath of the berserker wont drop off very often, even with low end gear.

i dont like skorn setup...its good for low MP but on higher MPs u need top gear for it to be effective....try to dual wield and WW build...

-get a main hand echoing fury with strg, vita and socket ..
-get a offhand with this stats(around 700 dps, 600+LOH, Life Steal, 70+CD, socket, Strg, vita) one like this should go for around 10m...remember its ur offhand...they dont need higher DPS cuz run like the wind only procs ur main hand dps
-try to craft ilvl63 amulet, shoulder and bracer...ur boots and pants must have Mov speed...24%MS is very important for ww barb
-get crit chance and atk speed on every slots u can

Is it better to get LOH or Life Steal? I'm just wondering how that scales as your DPS increases?

Life on hit sucks, and you'll do crap dps with low end 1handers. As long you use rend in your build,..wrath will be easy to maintain...the skorn you bought will perform better than 2x low end 1handers (some people prefer high end 1hander+echoing fury late endgame..i dont..but some do..and it's perfectly viable if you do have 2x 1000dps pluss 1handers..but the price of those will push you past 300 mill just for weapons). Forging amulets, gauntlets and shoulders is the way to go later on, but you'll probably spend alot of cash getting some useful ones, so i'd wait a tad with those if i were you.

Life Steal is indeed the way to go at endgame. I get back between 10-15k in life when using HotA on a mob.

As far as the price of onehands go...
    7mil for this
    16mil for this
Though your Skorn looks pretty good, I can tell you right now, speaking from the numbers, I get about 5% more DPS out of my weapons than you do, and as you can see, I didn't really break the bank when I got them.

Your defenses and AllRes look very decent, but you could definitely use more life. It's quite discerning that you get almost half your vitality from gems, because if those were STR gems of the same quality instead, you'd gain at least another 15k dmg with your current gear setup. Also, you'll gain about 2k DPS per Crit Chance you get without dropping your other stats, and your gloves are way past overdue for an upgrade if you want more damage.

Edit: If you're really serious about pushing your Barb beyond "good enough for grinding", don't be afraid to set bids on items that look interesting but you don't feel comfortable straight-out buying. I do this for item slots I'm generally happy with, but wouldn't mind an upgrade for anyway. Rather than spending millions of gold on gloves for a guaranteed upgrade, I was able to grab a pair for a few hundred K. The amount of gold I saved on those will go into crafting even better ones, and in the meantime, I got a better pair than before. Also, if you jump on the AH with the mentality of upgrading your character now, you'll spend a lot more gold for something potentially worse. In the long run, it will be better to not buy impulsively and look for good deals before spending your gold.

In that case, congratulations to whoever gets this on US Server incase it's still up ;)

I'm not saying it'll be easy, but sometimes you just have to look. Like I said earlier, this is why it's better in the long run to not immediately buy an upgrade unless you REALLY REALLY want it, but rather look on the AH inbetween runs to find gems like these.

Hehe. Id rather have a nice scorn with awesome crit damage + strenght for a ww rend build though..And his skorn will kick ass if he wants a nasty bleed build. 1handers are better for keeping up fury, but statwise you loose alot unless you have high enough crit /crit damage / attack speed support from the rest of your gear..which he doesnt. ..1handers in use is kinda crap if you're low on crit / crit damage / attack speed..If you're unable to keep wrath of the berserker up..you should try 1handers i guess..if not..id stick with the skorn

Do not put EF on mainhand. Place it on your off hand to minimize the effect of fear (sprint wont proc fear if on off hand). In turn, get an axe for your main hand to keep your weapon master passive.

Skorn is really only good for rend. Dual wield is the way to go for WW and HoTa.
  • #13
With you budget, you should go for Skorn, you'll get a lot more DPS than with an EF+OH for the same price. Don't get lifesteal on Skorn, 3% from passive is all you need.

Rend build with Skorn is incredibly fast, in fact it's faster for killing white mobs than dual wield HotA builds, the only problem is killing elite packs takes longer.

So just throw rend as my secondary mouse and I should be ok?

Wow all those vit gems. You've made some classic gearing errors in my opinion.
Please get rid of the cheap IK chest for one with 180 to 200+ vit and then use 3 strength gems. You're losing lots of dps with the vit gems you have currently.
The same applies for those innas pants, go for higher vit and lower str, and then use red gems. Something like 40 str, 70 vit should be very affordable.
Also, you don't need armour on IK belt, get one with 250+ str. If you're not going to use frenzy the +13% frenzy damage is kinda wasted.
And lastly, a high str (200+) IK helm with 6% crit will likely give more sheet dps than the mempo. With a bit of luck you can make up the lost att spd on crafted gloves/amulet. You will lose resists yes, but anything above 500 AR (some barbs manage with way lower) should be enough for mp10.

Great advice man, thank you. Will update my Barb tonight.
