Rare mace MH and Echoing Fury OH?

  • #1
So in my search last night for new weapon upgrades, a person whispered me saying that a rare mace mainland and a echoing fury for off hand would be the best way to go. I have tried doing some research on this setup and I haven't found much. I always thought that either Mace in mainhand whether it be a rare mace or echoing fury, and for offhand have an axe or anything close to 1.50 or higher is the best?

Can anyone confirm if my set up right now for weapons is good? I bought the rare mace in my mainhand slot last night for 35m, and looking to upgrade my echoing fury I have currently for one with a socket and a bit more strength and added vitality if I can afford it. I would love to find an EF with 3% Lifesteal so i don't have to use bloodthirst but those are pricey!

Also if anyone has suggestions on upgrading my EF now to something better? Maybe under 100m spending on a new one

and here is my profile link :http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Asethi-1919/hero/30538349

The theory behind mace + EF is basically that it's easier to optimze attack speed breakpoints for RLTW tornadoes using both weapons since they have the same attacks-per-second (assuming neither has increased attack speed on the weapon itself). The reason you hear suggestions to put the EF in the offhand is that if you main-hand it, the fear procs a lot more often from tornadoes / WW, which makes it more annoying to try to kill things. I'd recommend checking out this guide: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/719991332
...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.

Yeah I was using a EF that I have now in my mainhand and a 1.53 dagger in offhand and the fear proc is so annoying, I like it in the offhand spot that I have now just wondering if my Mainhand mace I have now is pretty decent for farming until I can afford an awesome one (worth a bil gold or so). Also what do you recommend upgrading to as far as echoing fury goes compared to the one I have now? I dont like being stuck at 89% crit with no socket so I guess the first step is getting a socket one with crit damage if I can afford it? Also my current EF is 215 str so what would be a great upgrade to that, 250 str or higher?

I'm still gearing up myself and my current DPS is only like half of yours, so take my advice with a lot of salt. :) What I'm currently looking to pick up on an EF is something like life leech / has socket and strength. My guess is that you're probably right though since your DPS is so much higher than mine, and extra crit damage would be better for you if you can afford a socket + extra crit damage + strength.

Your main-hand mace looks pretty good to me. Though I'd rather have more crit damage or more strength than life-on-hit or dex if possible (though dex is still pretty decent for defense below 400-500 points), what you've got is plenty good imho.

Well regarding the discussion of EF for MH or OH, this is an interesting read:
    h ttp://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/13gt70/i_know_its_no_longer_that_big_a_deal_but_i_just/

Sry im trying to understand but what is exactly ur question? and what exactly is ur target when gearing? higher dps im assuming but that is not so simple as LL is involved in the equation.
So what sort of weapon you equip in you MH and/or OH depends also on the belt ur using as well. If for example u have an IK belt then you can drop the LL from the weap, which all the above are a factor of how much gold u have to spend and how u intend to spend it, which brings me to my initial question 'what is ur target when gearing?'

I could say that your setup of weaps is ok... but again you need to have set out your end targets, for example as I understand it if you have your target of LL of 6% that can come from 3 setups:
    - IK Belt (3%) + bloodthirst (3%) + any mh and oh u want to equip
    - WH + Bloodthirst (3%) + either mh or oh (1 of 2) to have LL (3%)
    - WH + both mh & oh having LL (6%)
the selection of which combo depends on the amount of goldz u have to spare

As an example i've opted for having LL on belt ( IK Belt) and LL on OH (Echoing fury) cause i also swap out and occasionally make my barb a weapon throw barb (for ubers & i like the style of play & im not pidgeon-holed into just playing WW barb)

I do have an IK belt that is 185 str/80AR/15 fury/bash 10% but i lose about 4k health and 14k dps from my witching hour belt. Witching hour seems so OP with Attack speed/crit that I dont want to give it up. I have over 550 AR without IK belt and the more AR i would get from IK belt i use on ubers. I guess my target for gearing is to hit around 250k dps unbuffed if possible but that probably requires upgrading ALL my gear. Right now in my WW spec with my current gear during WOTB I can hit about 350k dps, I would like to hit over 400k in WOTB. Hope this helps :X and I know I have talked about many different things this post.

Oh and after viewing your profile I would like to be on that level of gear...over 3000 strength and close to 250k dps unbuffed

I chose the Echoing Fury Mainhand and a sword in the offhand. Resoning behind this was, that I usually play with a cold SoJ so the fear doesn't annoy me that much.
Like the others already stated, you have to find a way to gear that suits your budget. If you can't afford life steal on your non EF you might have to go for an IK belt or a lower DPS EF with LS. However I think it's wasted to take LS on your EF since you won't be able to have one with crit damage + socket.
And always remember, that your charscreen DPS as a whirlwind barb isn't worth much. Use d3up.com or similar sites to calculate your actual tornado dps.

(Don't look at the dps, that was just bored experiment)
It's currently a bit too vitality focused, will change the shoulders, bracers and pants as soon as I get a bit more gold.

I want to try to get a cold SOJ because I hear its awesome for a ww barb, question is should i replace my unity which has bonus vs elites and mine has over 220str? Is it worth losing the 220ish strength to gain lets say 28>+ bonus to elites?

At least for me the only ones that really matter are elites. And a 28%+ damage bonus is huge. Just check which of your rings gives you less dps and change that one. If that ring doesn't increase your dps by 25%+ it should be worth it.
